Trump Appeals $355 Million Ruling in New York Civil Fraud Case
Breitbart ^ | 02/26/2024 | Simon Kent

Former President Donald Trump filed a notice of appeal Monday in the matter of the New York civil judgment finding him liable for fraudulently inflating his net worth on years of financial statements.

The judgement curtailed his ability – and that of the Trump Organization – to do business in New York or apply for loans from financial institutions registered with the state.

Trump asked an intermediate-level state appellate court to overturn Justice Arthur Engoron’s Feb. 16 ruling in a civil fraud lawsuit brought in 2022 by New York Attorney General Letitia James, Reuters reports.

Trump’s post-judgment interest will continue to accrue at $111,984 each day until it is paid, according to the office of New York Attorney General Letitia James, who brought the case against Trump and his company, CBS News notes.

“ultimately the New York State supreme Court.”

AGAIN, the New York State “Supreme Court” is the LOWEST court.

The the New York State “Court of Appeals” is its HIGHEST court.

I live in NY. (always have)

“ The rest of the States need to expel NY and CA from the Union.

They may say that secession is illegal but nobody said that bad actors can't be thrown out.

NY is a rotting irrelevant cesspool of corrupt lawyers and finance scammers.”

You very scary! You read my mind. How you do dat?

Also heard so eone stating g that Trump would likely be elected, but would have to face the courts after a few years because it wouod take that long to get it there or soemthing- if so, the interest will be staggering by then if he can’t get it heard sooner- but hopefully he wins an appeal and the judge and their ilk get slapped down for their u just judgement and persecution

James alleges that Trump defrauded NY banks to get lower interest rates.

Some of Trump’s estimates were highly questionable. Mar-a-Lago has negotiated restrictions that Trump probably can’t normally get undone.

Of course, once Trump got loans and paid on them, he could have refinanced at rock bottom rates.

I have not seen his pleadings in the case. The judge should have read them.

That is what Newsmax is reporting- I see it come up in their ticker tape at the bottom of the channel often.

It should, as the judgement itself is what is being appealed for being unjust and excessive. (Though i think he is also going for appeal, based on the fsct that the whole trial was unjust too)

Yup!

Here so the ruling that supports your post. The Supreme Court ruled 9-0 against excessive fines.

FYI

Eighth Amendment is pure and simple.

Amendment VIII

Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments

“expel NY and CA from the Union”

I have suggested upstate New York be sold to Canada. Perhaps $100 billion would be a fair price. Canadian real estate prices are crushingly high. Much of upstate New York real estate is quite cheap (if one could set aside New York taxes & government). This would reduce the number of presidential electors from New York.

James said she would get Trump. If what he did was so terrible and against everything new York stands for, why did they wait all these years to prosecute? They must look back now at everyone and forward as well to find all the offenders. Others would need to be fined the same amount. They can fund the illegals without cutting services! NY is going down and what is left will be hell on earth!

[[this type of case has happened and been adjudicated]]

In that case, the judge and prosecutors etc should be severely disciplined for knowing the law yet breaking it willingly and brazenly. They should lose their jobs for blatantly defying the law or rules or whatever

“why did they wait all these years to prosecute”

It always takes Democrats longer to do things, whether it is counting votes or repaving streets.

It does not take NY long to set criminals free though. No bail. Speeds them back to commit worse crimes.

“if the lower appeals court rules against Trump he can then take it to the Supreme Court on appeal and I think he will win there based on the 8th an 14 amendments... let alone it is the court system personal attack on Trump and election interference...”

First he would have to appeal to the New York Court of Appeals.

It would probably be appropriate for Warren, Washington, Saratoga, Schenectady, Albany, Rensselaer, Columbia, and Greene counties to have plebiscites on whether they wanted to join Canada, subject to contiguity.

Have you ever been to New York City? It is a very large septic tank.
