Paradis Books & Bread, a book café located in North Miami, has closed down following a controversial decision to ask Fox News political analyst Gianno Caldwell to leave the establishment due to his conservative political beliefs.
Gianno Caldwell recounted the event during an interview with Fox News host Maria Bartiromo, expressing his disbelief and disappointment over being ostracized for his political stance. Caldwell explained, “I never thought I would make international news for being a Florida man kicked out of a restaurant because of my conservative values.” He detailed how the conversation turned uncomfortable when the café’s owner directly asked him to leave, stating that their political views did not align.
The incident quickly escalated as Caldwell took to social media to share his experience, which garnered significant attention, including 2.5 million views on Twitter. Caldwell described feeling “shell shocked” by the encounter.

"To our haters, we suppose congratulations are in order, so you can go ahead and stop reading now! But, to those who have loved us, supported our many changes, laughed with us, danced with us, and maybe even cried with us, we wanted to give you this parting explanation, as well as a wholehearted thank you…
As many of you who’ve followed us likely know, at the beginning of last year we had an incident with a Fox News anchor which resulted in being ceaselessly harassed by their followers, even to this day. After being targeted, we didn’t know if we would reopen again, and when we did, we knew we had to do our best to minimize potential harm to us and our community......"

Aw. 🎻
Most books are liberal.
Notice they never admitted they were wrong for asking Gianni to leave. No regret for an action they believe did them in. They never realized they were destroyed by their own intolerance and hatred. This is how insane and delusional one has to be to embrace Communism.
I hate when I go to a book store and have to spend time turning over books by liberal authors. It’s a dirty job, but someone has to do it.
I suspect there were other issues that caused this.
The writer gives us a clue here -
“Truth be told, if our lives outside of paradis were easy and uncomplicated, this model would just maybe be sustainable”
That part about their lives not being, apparently, “easy and sustainable”, implies personal or business difficulties not directly related to the restaurant. Who knows what that was - a breakup or divorce, loss of a backer, a need for a day job, who knows.
Trouble in Paradis.
Maybe shoulda added the ‘e’
Shoulda done their liberal love for those with diffeent views.

Virtually everyone working in bookshops and libraries is a left winger, for various reasons. But conservatives, imho, tend to be more cerebral, and read far more and more widely than liberals who seem to all live in an echo chamber. The New York Times, to take one example, has long since become unreadable.
IMO, I’m glad they were harassed (if they actually were). It’s time we started going Alinsky the way the left does. We always play too nicely.
Yes local book sellers and librarians all have the smug self-righteous smiles of uninformed leftists as they stand among their limited slice of skewed propaganda.
Agreed
But those in the know here on FR aren’t the least bit surprised.
Love to see this. I doubt they learned a lesson, but maybe someone sane will take the place over.
Also, Amazon did ‘em in.
it turns out that going out of your way - needlessly - to alienate about half of your potential customers does not make good business sense.
Who would have guessed?
Wow, telling a black man he had to leave a restaurant. How 1950 of them.
“They were ceaselessly harrassed? Hmmm. I just would stop going there. What really happened?”
Exactly what you said. People stopped going because the restaurant violated Americans civil rights. And once that was out on social media, it was game, set and match.
What’s old is new again
In the 1950’s most Blacks were Republicans
It’s because the left is not “liberal” in the true dictionary sense.
It’s very intolerant and wants to create a “new man”, which requires the death of key ideas.
Hence the censorship.
Go woke, go broke.... Textbook business mismanagement. An example that politics shouldn’t be involved with business. Michael Jordan said Republicans buys sneakers, too.
