Several years ago, I wanted us to move to AZ, near Scottsdale. Hubs said absolutely not, due to their dire water situation.
We live in the swamp of SETX, so, our chance of running out of water is much less, than there.

I moved from the SETX swamp to near Scottsdale 30 years ago. Never had a problem getting a glass of water (or filling a swimming pool lol).
That said, there is a tiny community in the desert pretty far from Scottsdale that had problems which made the news last year (I think it was) with their existing water supply...it’s trucked in, which they knew when they moved there...but the issue has since been resolved (via a different supplier, I think).
