"over 80% of fast-food workers are people of color and two-thirds are women."

Since the pandemic, a lot of people have broken the fast food habit. It is a product/service nobody really needs.

The effect of their union might not be what they desire or expect , but it is not necessarily bad for the world.

Buy stock in automated kitchen equipment. I see a big demand in the future.

In California, over 80% of fast-food workers are people of color and two-thirds are women.

There was a time when White teens used to do these jobs and did a great job. Never complained about the pay, was always on-time and didn't call in a lot.

Working at McD’s used to be a place where you’ll get your first job as a teenager. Or at least, it used to be that way. Once you’ve developed your skills, you would climb the corporate ladder or you’ll find another job that pays better with another company.

I agree. Fast food places thrived because they were cheap, fast and cheap. What fast food places are selling is time. Someone could get a meal in less ten minutes that would take them perhaps 30 minutes at home (plus the clean up).

When you could feed a family of four for $10 it was a deal.

Now it is between $20 and $30 which is not such a deal.

Smart people will cut back on fast food. Dumb people will use their credit card and still buy fast food.

Either way I see decline in the number of fast food restaurants in the next few years.

These people are just stupid the unions do NOTHING for the workers EXCEPT protect workers who are USELESS!! If you are a great worker being in a union prevents your boss from giving you a raise above anyone else on the same scale, EVERYONE is equal including the useless POS worker!! I worked for a union in the grocery business for a very short time our annual raise was 10 cents a year and I have never worked with more LAZY people in my life!! I remember years ago when the union put the grocery workers on strike over a holiday season those workers gained NOTHING their regular customers became used to shopping at Costco, Sam’s club ect. The workers had NO PAY for months and gained NOTHING!

When people see how much cheaper it is to eat at a sit-down restaurant - or cook at home - as opposed to eating at a fast food joint with unhealthy options, we will see how many of them keep their artificially high paid jobs.

Jobs that were meant for young kids in high school looking to put spending money in their pockets by the way. Or elderly folk supplementing their social security or looking for part time work out of boredom.

The whole point of fast-food was that it was both quick and cheap. Since it’s no longer cheap already, one would think it is an industry headed for the scrap heap. Yet I notice McDonalds stock is at at or near its five year high, rising steadily all this time. I guess people are willing to pay the price.

The pandemic took a chunk out of the fast food business. But in my opinion, Biden’s inflation is even worse. Some fast food places do offer decent food (kinda), but they are pricing out many customers.

I don’t blame them. I blame Biden. And now, Biden and the unions.

Side note: I have nothing against the concept of a union. The problem is that it’s no longer a level playing field. Union workers can go on strike. But employers cannot permanently fire them.

‘They have to listen to us’

And "They" will listen.
And what they'll hear is, "Buy robots."

Employers don’t need to listen to you for longer than it takes to automate your job.

Angelica Hernandez, who has worked at McDonald’s for 19 years???

I worked at McD while I was in college and then I got a real job where I didn’t smell like the food I was making that shift....

BTW, Tootz. You are going to price fast food off the menu for most of us and robots will replace your jobs

Win win...

They’ve destroyed everything else.

The only place they have left is fast food

Of course, they’ve unionized government and are totally safe there.
