Wisconsin Republican Rep. Mike Gallagher announced Saturday that he will not seek re-election to his post in the House.
"Eight years ago, when I first ran for Congress, I promised to treat my time in office as a high-intensity deployment. Through my bipartisan work on the Armed Services and Intelligence Committees, chairing the Cyberspace Solarium Commission, and chairing the Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party, we’ve accomplished more on this deployment than I could have ever imagined," Gallagher said in a statement.
"But the Framers intended citizens to serve in Congress for a season and then return to their private lives," the congressman continued. "Electoral politics was never supposed to be a career and, trust me, Congress is no place to grow old. And so, with a heavy heart, I have decided not to run for re-election."

Why does he have a heavy heart or sadness, about announcing his retirement.? He’s saying that Congress is no place to grow old ,and Congress was never meant to be a long-term career. Doesn’t this sound contradictory?
This clown should never have been in office as a Republican. He is another Dem who ran as a Republican just to get more campaign money.
But Mike it IS a place to grow up and your childish pence like stunt shows you certainly didn’t grow up in Congress, that’s for sure.
Oh I dont know Joe, Pelosi a lot of Democrats are into their 80s 90s and doing fine in Congress and other government jobs...

Just once, I would like to see a congressman admit that he’s out of touch with his constituents and is resigning so that they can have an opportunity to elect someone who will better represent their interests and concerns.

Rep. Mike Gallagher was a No vote on impeaching Mayorkas, and now he’s getting a nice big job in the defense industry.
Keep your eyes on people who call his resignations a “loss” for Congress and the GOP.
