Do climate change deniers bend the facts to avoid having to modify their environmentally harmful behavior? Researchers from the University of Bonn and the Institute of Labor Economics (IZA) ran an online experiment involving 4,000 US adults, and found no evidence to support this idea. The authors of the study were themselves surprised by the results. Whether they are good or bad news for the fight against global heating remains to be seen. The study is published in the journal Nature Climate Change.
A surprisingly large number of people still downplay the impact of climate change or deny that it is primarily a product of human activity. But why? One hypothesis is that these misconceptions are rooted in a specific form of self-deception, namely that people simply find it easier to live with their own climate failings if they do not believe that things will actually get all that bad.
"We call this thought process 'motivated reasoning,'" says Professor Florian Zimmermann, an economist at the University of Bonn and Research Director at IZA.

There is a problem, Physics.org, it’s called Volcanic Activity on the Pacific Ocean Floor. It is making the ocean hotter, causing changes in the water vapor content of the atmosphere and asserting pressure on the weather patterns. It is NATURE not MAN! For crying out loud.
these reasoned people can’t reasonably tell you what the temperature of earth should be, can’t reasonably tell the difference between a man and a woman and can’t reasonably explain why they hate Donald J Trump SO much. REASON! it’s the season for the reason.
We’ve had swarms of big, fat robins strutting around in our backyard. They’ve apparently had a great winter...with plenty to eat. If this keeps up, they’ll be the size of basketballs by the end of summer.
I don’t think they’re unhappy with the current climate crisis.

they are starting from the stand point that “man made climate change” is a given, which it is not. GIGO. No one is denying the climate changes. Some more critical thinkers are questioning the causative effect.

The idiots really believe that they can power an industrial global society with the sun and wind. There is no way to do that.
Eating bugs and worms for protein, being restricted to two flights in your lifetime and one cup of coffee per year, keeping your house at 50F in the winter and no AC in the summer, scarcity of everything does not sound appealing. Especially when there is a small chance it MIGHT reduce the global temperature 0.1 degree in 100 years.
If the kooks were serious they would have to embrace a massive build-out of nuclear power and stop tearing down dams making electricity. They won’t do either of those things, so a Cave Dweller life is the only remaining solution for them. Few people know what “do something” would really mean. They can just keep yammering to their government Reps and Senators “do something.”
So far, all the pols have done is already waste trillions of dollars for nothing except moving money to the pockets of companies run by Dems and from those companies to the Dem pols via “campaign contributions.”
Because if their concern was Low Unemployment, they’d actually have to do something about it.

Why is climate being shoved down our throats to begin with?
Some may say political ideology but I see business is a major force in our society.
Changing packaging and going paperless reduces business expenses.
Using cars less may cause fewer traffic accidents and reduce insurance industry costs.
The limited range of electric cars would seem to help but if electric cars have safety issues things go the other way for insurance costs.
But we need to think we need to understand business and money buys our politicians in the end left-wingers outside the Mainstream don’t have financial resources to change politics.
Is Climate just Leftists or is it Business seeking an advantage cutting costs increasing the profit margin taking out competitors.
Yes, us Climate Change deniers pretend that China and India are not on the same planet as the West.
