A garbageman allegedly knifed two people during a dispute on tony Forest Hills’ Austin Street, then fled in his sanitation truck, police said.
The two men, ages 35 and 34, were in an argument with the worker around 4:30 a.m. on Austin Street near 71st Avenue when the sanit man pulled out a knife, stabbing one in the chest and the other in the abdomen, police said.
The garbageman, who worked for a private carting company, then hopped in his truck and took off while the victims took themselves to Long Island Jewish Hospital, where they were in stable condition.
What fueled the argument remains under investigation, police said.

One..... come enjoy Memphis.
With every six you get a free bail voucher.
Elvis ain’t even safe in Memphis.
People need to learn not to put glass in with the regular trash.
Shouldn’t be too much longer before a politician or their family member is a victim. Then perhaps something may change.
I wonder if sanitation companies in that area are mobbed up like on TV? Garbage business was bread and butter to the Soprano’s run Jersey DeMeo family crime syndicate on the show.
A sanitation man working at 4:30 AM, a hard working stiff most likely supporting a family. The bet here is he wasn’t looking for trouble, which probably came from the so called victims. Many folks in the city are thinking of ways to defend themselves, due to the fact there is no law and order.
Mayhem is everywhere.
The obvious charge here is ‘bringing a knife to what coulda/shoulda been a gun fight’.
Who personally engages a sanitation worker at 4:30am ?
(OTOH, he may have intentionally been leaving the emptied garbage cans blocking a driveway.)
They should give a free all expense payed trip to Chicago, only need a one way airfare.
At least he didn’t have a second man on that Garbage Truck, he is usually the Momback guy. He backs up the driver and tells him Momback./s
That’s right. We should have laws for that! And laws for not running through the house with scissors.
Think of the children!
Austin Street in Forest Hills is a tony area. I wonder who was hassling the sanitation truck driver. Probably some imported two legged trash trying to rob him.
