TikTok video of a young woman complaining about having to work 40 hours a week went mega-viral with millions of views on social media.

The woman, who says her name is Eliza, posts under the moniker "SupposedlyASystem," and she says that it is impossible to enjoy life while working 40 hours in order to pay the rent.

"How do people manage to enjoy life while working full time?" she wrote on the video.

I agree with this woman. Life is night and day better since I retired.

I don’t like being retired and I am trying to find a firm to join. Insanely busy is what I like.

She is going to make someone a great wife.

Not me. Don’t have the classic “retirement.” Still have to run my husband’s HVAC biz and the rental properties.

How I did my 40 plus hour job and all the rest I will never know. This generation is spoiled, spoiled, spoiled. I was a single divorced mom and often worked 2 to 3 jobs at a time.

OK, here’s a tip. Start your own business. Sell yourself.

It doesn’t need to be a large business. Review all your skills and interests acquired over the years. Select one or two and sell them to someone that needs some help.

Do not try to pick up where you left off. New direction with the skill is desirable.

Starting part time may very well grow to something larger than you really want

Welcome to a man’s world. It’s not so hot. Traditional gender roles in a stable family looks makes sense now, don’t they?

I’m a retired military project manager. I worked, usually more than forty hours per week for 33 years. Today I have seven rentals and live on five acres I’ve been steadily improving. I realized the other day when someone asked me to join them for lunch and the earliest I could do it is a month from now that I have less time today than I had when working. When employed I worked out three days a week. I had hobbies and plenty of projects around the house. I socialized. I attended car club meetings. Today I have less time available than when I worked. She simply isn’t managing her time well.

People yearn for living a simpler life. Decades ago, you either worked or you starved. People worked until they died. The concept of retirement originated in a socialist Germany when the government wanted older workers to retire to make room for younger workers. (The opposite of today’s problems.) The idea of a paid retirement is going away. The government keeps adding money to the money supply making each dollar you save worth less. Also, they’ve been raiding the social security piggybank since LBJ “conformed” the budget to get his greedy little hands on it. Still, we are better off today than we were when everyone lived on a farm and either worked or starved.

I’ve never done 40hrs/week. Started off with a part time job and to make “enough” money, I used my mind to figure out how that could happen.
Everyone’s got a mind and a toolkit of talents.
If you still can’t afford an apartment, move!
There are always alternatives, for anyone. When you think of them, don’t start with “I couldn’t possibly _____ “ Maybe you could.

She says she has a 2-br apt. What’s in br2 that she needs more than a teammate?
Two heads better. Two hearts. Two skill sets. Buddy up!

Since there are 168 hours in a week, it appears she spends 3/4 of her time enjoying life. How much more do you need?

Young people clutter their lives with a lot of stuff the media tells them that they MUST have. Then they wonder why they have no money and have to struggle.

The best thing I EVER did was to de program myself on what the β€˜media’ told me I needed

I have a cousin who got married and immediately had two children.
They bought a really swell house and a new car. They took trips for vacation every year, they had the newest and best of everything. They never saved and were bankrupt in no time at all.

What ever happened to waiting until you could afford something before you bought it?

How did you get the money/resources to retire? Do you think your retirement would be enjoyable if you didn’t have that nest egg? Young people today expect the loaf of bread without having to knead the dough.

Become a truck driver and work 80 hours a week. You won’t need the apartment.....the truck becomes your home, and you’ll net $900.00 a week.

As for what you were “designed” for, What did your pastor say?

You’re welcome, sluggard.
