El Rushbo’s Bo Snerdly was just recalling something similar during his “Rush Hour” radio program, talking about Dan’s Bake Sale in Fort Collins, Colorado, eons ago, which drew 100,000 “salt of the earth” people. “Bo” said that, despite the throngs of people, they left the place as clean or cleaner than they found it.

I found a way around the stupid plastic bag ban the last time I was at a New Jersey convenience store some months ago.

I just went over to the section where they have fresh pastries on a shelf in a glass case, took one of the bags you're supposed to use for your donut or bagel, and put my things in it at the cash register after I had paid for them. The manager of the place even chuckled when he saw what I had done.

I mentioned this at a business networking meeting a couple of years ago when this stupid bag law was first adopted.

ME: "I actually buy less at a convenience store now, because I don't want to carry out more than I can fit in one hand. And usually that's a cup of coffee."

HIM: "What's the big deal about bringing your own bag to hold the items you buy?"

ME: "If I have to go through the trouble of remembering to bring my own bag, I may as well just bring my own coffee, too -- which means I'm not stopping at the QuickChek or Wawa anyway."

Apples and coconuts.

The reusable bags end up in landfills not the ocean. Free Willy is safe.

Reusable bags don’t blow away in the wind (they are heavier) like one use bags do, to get caught in trees and bushes strangling birds.

I still have EVERY reusable bag that I ever bought! I even had my wife sew one that ripped (still using it).

TIP:

You don’t have to remember to take your reusable bags into the store with you. Just leave them in your car. (You are already doing THAT!)

Just put purchased items back in your cart. (or scan in the cart with the hand held device). Push your cart out to your car (where your reusable bags are waiting for you).

No carrying of bags. Without feeling rushed, you can arrange the items in your bags as you wish. Bathroom stuff bag. Canned goods bag. Junk food bag. etc. No need to hunt for or walk half a mile and back to a cart corral. Just leave the cart anywhere you like. They have cart people for that job.

And post a lookout while you transfer the goods lest you get held up and robbed of them at gunpoint.

store shrinkage has exploded

Self-checkout has contributed to that in many stores.

The problem wasn’t the bags. The problem was the blue state city residents were slobs.

Bingo. It was never about the production of consumption and plastic. It was that bankrupt blue cities couldn't afford to clean up after the dirtbags who littered everywhere.

The bags would contribute to blocked storm drains which led to flooded roadways and buildings, leading to lawsuits.

The big lie from the beginning was “single use”. No one, even out here in CaCaLand threw away a plastic bag after one use. Well, OK, some of the idiots in charge might have.

While not as useful as ziplock, they are waaaay better than any paper bag crappola.

It was all because CaCaLand politicos had contracts with companies in the CCP. Like Feinstein.

The only purpose that matters to liberals is
'Does This New Silly Idea Make Us Feel Superior To Other Citizens'?
If it passes that smell test then it doesn't matter if the idea causes more harm than good.

But the stupid idiots in the 1970’s decided that they destroyed trees. Dummies. I’d love every one in the 70’s who advocated for that to be charged for being plastic to our country.

The first time a cashier said to me a, “Paper or Plastic?” I thought she was talking about cash versus credit card to pay for the groceries!..............

I have seen people bringing absolutely filthy cloth bags for their groceries. I wouldn’t eat anything carried in bag that dirty. Note the single use plastic film bags are recyclable…my local grocery has a recycling bin at the front door.

We are making progress. Before the wall came down the east German shoppers carried folding mesh (cloth) bags to carry their purchases. Their main problem was that they rarely had anything to put in them. If we keep on electing progressives that will be our next step. Covid was practice.

Though the bags are built for repeated shopping trips, most New Jerseyans only reuse the bags two to three times before they're discarded.

In practice, the bags were built to hold more items in a single bag without tearing. After two or three uses, the bags become ratty, dirty, and not something a user would want to put into their washing machine along with their clothing.
