Mayor Eric Adams is set to use his State of the City address Wednesday to unveil a new push to use a slew of city-owned properties for affordable housing projects, The Post has learned.
The new plan will make use of public sites across the Big Apple in a bid to advance a total of 24 housing projects by the end of the year, according to an early snippet of Hizzoner’s speech obtained by The Post.
The ambitious project — dubbed “24 in 24” — will create or preserve more than 12,000 affordable homes scattered across the five boroughs, according to the mayor’s office.
“Our ’24 in 24’ plan to create and preserve affordable housing on 24 publicly-owned sites is another example of how we’re doing everything within our control to deliver housing and relief to New Yorkers when they need it most,” Adams said in a statement to The Post.

Now that plumbing is PVC instead of copper, these projects have a better chance of survival.
‘Affordable’ and ‘NYC’ don’t seem to belong in the same sen5ence somehow.😉
Affordable means somebody else help you pay for it. That sounds good, but is a failure. It can’t be sustained. The price will rise toward market price and the subsidies will be forced to rise also.
Why were my grandparents able to afford housing for a whole family, from one job, and with no subsidies?
I was thinking “affordable” means affordable for new york to build for illegals to live there free. could be wrong.

Yep. I knew a guy who was on retainer for a local housing project. This was maybe 25 years ago. The residents would tear out the copper plumbing, the light fixtures in the hallways, etc. then sell the stuff for scrap.
My friend would be called in to make repairs. Then the cycle started right back up again. He finally quit. It wasn’t that the residents started to behave. It just got too dangerous to report to work.
Venezuela
For NYC homeless? Or illegals...
As usual, it will make apartments even harder to find.. and the ones available even more run down. But the super rich high rise dwellers will get a boost in occupancy demand. Leftists always bring more disparity because they despise freedom. Control freaks never make things better. That’s not how the world works.
That is until certain groups move in. They will be dumps in 2 years.
Hey NYC tax payers ... as Obama said: Elections have consequences.
“Affordable means somebody else help you pay for it. That sounds good, but is a failure. It can’t be sustained.”
Is anyone believing that the immigrants will eventually become NYC taxpayers that will contribute to their economy?
That is the only valid reason for supporting these arrivals.
Just what NYC needs...more poor people forced into “projects” where they’re made to become totally dependent on government. FOOLS.
“So he plans to make NYCHA even bigger. Then though its billions in the hole. Got it.”
HUD will finance him.
Every site will be built by “Union Labor” using tax dollars, at highly inflated costs and with the guarantee that a fixed percentage of the payments will be laundered back to ......THE DEMONCRATS!
He should name one of these new housing projects “Cabrini Green”.
Just another Government program, how else is NYC going to house the wetbacks.
This would seed and spread the broke illegal indigents throughout the greater city area, surely bringing their poverty along as the locals’ responsibility.
