Starting his campaign as a de facto presidential candidate before he even showed up for his first day of work after being re-elected governor of Florida made for some awful optics -- mainly because it convinced many voters that his 2022 gubernatorial campaign was a total fraud.

Back when Trump coined the term DeSanctimonious, everyone was wondering why he would attack DeSantis. It was because the big money was already flowing to Ron. Way more than a governor's race would need. Trump knew what that meant.

Being sneaky and screwing your FL constituency was not a good way to start.
