The difference may be due to IQ differences and subsequent success in life as a result of that.
Blacks that emigrated from Africa, Jamaica, Haiti of their own volition were most likely the ones that were fairly successful in those countries and had the initiative, smarts, and did what it took to get here.
Whereas descendants from slaves were taken against their will and were probably the ones not clever enough to not get caught.
I’m sure if one were to do an IQ test comparison between the two groups you’d find a significant difference in the averages.
Same with a test on initiative and hard work.
That’s true of all migrants that came to the US, which explains why the US has done so well.
When I was in grad school in the ‘80s and there were a number of civil wars going on in Africa, I knew a student from Nigeria. Some white students asked him how blacks could be fighting each other and he laughed and pointed out that almost everyone in sub-Sahara Africa is black and there were other factors, the same as when Europeans fought each other.
And the government officials says, “Let’s you and him fight. We will watch and fund both sides”.
