Beverly Hills is supposed to plan for more than 3,100 new homes, most of them affordable, but because the state has denied the feasibility of the city’s plans, “Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Curtis A. Kin blocked the city from issuing all building permits except for new residential development,” the Los Angeles Times reports.

Beverly Hills
That’s where I want to be
(Gimme gimme, gimme gimme)
That’s a nice city you got there…
now we know the next place to send the buses of illegal invaders
Since when is it the responsibility for a city to ensure houses are built and in what number? And how is it not an illegal taking from a property owner to refuse to let them use their property as normal?
Swimming pools, movie stars.
And we all know what the government means when it demands ‘affordable housing’
What’s AWESOME is that it is THEIR (Leftist) JUDGE who is doing this to them. They’ll never understand the linkage as they’re too busy support Hamas, but at least we’ll know.
“Beverly Hills is supposed to plan for more than 3,100 new homes, most of them affordable”
Seems to me that ANY HOME that gets sold is ‘affordable’, so what’s the problem here.
“Judges” have way too much powah! I’m not sure they are authorized to pull this crap. If they’re going to do this kind of crap, they should be required to get themselves elected by the people.
Exactly...they want equalization of housing...nice neighborhood you got there...but it is too expensive...you need some affordable housing ...right next door we will build some “projects”
It’s gonnna be harder for them to feign virtue signal now. Such a shame.....
Down and out in Beverly Hills.
“Judges” have way too much powah! I’m not sure they are authorized to pull this crap”
My understanding is that this is the law in Kalifornia. I have read in my local city fish wrap that my city is mandated that a fairly large percentage of future home building has to be to be affordable homes. Judges are just upholding the law that the likes of gruesome Newsome inacted. No challenges to the “law” that I know of
The new Beverly Hillbillies. Homeless encampments will be a good TV show.
Affordable housing means section 8 for parolees, welfare, and illegal aliens.
The future “residents” have already been robbing the local stores for 2 years.
Today: Beverly Hills
Tomorrow: Martha’s Vineyard
😂😂😂😂! Oh, okay.
” I’m not sure they are authorized to pull this crap. “
They are authorized, all right. The STATE has injected itself into all local housing planning. Every town has to have a “Housing Element” in its city plan. The “Housing Element” must be approved by the STATE otherwise the wrath of the state will rain down on your town. Your town will face endless lawsuits from the state and developers.
Our California town on the San Francisco Peninsula got built out in the 50s and 60s. There is no land available. Prices are sky-high. The town has worked hard from its inception to be an excellent bedroom community. Then the state stuck its nose in and our most recent “Housing Element” jams “affordable” (i.e, apartments) into the town here and there. It also wiped out our Design Guidelines document which assured that new and remodeled buildings would fit into the character of the existing town. The state said that Design Guidelines drive up costs and make it hard to build affordable housing here, so we deep-sided our entire guideline. To make it worse, the Design Review Commission was abolished and one “Environmental Regulator” was given the power to pass or reject any plan brought forth. All plans are now judged solely on measurable metrics (sq ft, floor area ratios, height, etc).
There is no local control any more. It is all centralized with the communists in Sacramento.
The irony is that crap like this is what makes CA such an undesirable place any more and the state continues to lose population to other states. So who is going to need affordable housing when we lose another million or two population?
I suggest you move to a free state.
