“electronic benefit transfers, or EBTs, can be abused or squandered on unhealthy food.”
Anyone with eyes to see knows this from a simple trip to the grocery store.
It’s Federal $$, it will end up being used to feed & house illegals.
I don’t blame them...
The devil, and Deep State, are in the details.
Link above.
BTW, this is a permanent program.
Wanna bet the federal funding won’t be...
If I were a responsible state government, the info that link and the concern about continuing funding would have me saying Hell no.
It’s how you buy the votes.
I’m OK with summer food program as long as it includes a commensurate decline in welfare payments. Otherwise, feed your own kids
$40 a month per child? Wonder what the bureaucratic costs are?
“and will supplement existing federal meals programs…”
And State, City, Church and School programs.
Lack of personal responsibility towards their children is encouraged by the Fascist / socialist in DC. It’s all about dependency. Sickening.
The job of caring for the poor and feeding the hungry is the church’s not the government’s.
The government is only doing it to buy votes and keep people on the plantation. The masses are easier to control when the government controls access to food, housing, medical care, and transportation.
Feed your own damn kids.
FINALLY!!!
It’s a GREAT start!
“ Governors of 15 U.S. states are putting politics ahead of the needs of hungry children…”
…I stopped there. Feed your own f’n kids. Stop procreating. Get a better job. Use a condom. Be a homo. So many choices.
There IS NO such thing as “free cheese” from DC. Utterly naive stories like this never discuss why there is “free cheese” and what it means for the states that take it.
“Probably don’t want to attract illegals and deadbeats. Baptist news should read the Apostle Paul’s requirements of widows to get aid”
1. **Widows Indeed**: Paul distinguishes between “widows indeed” and other widows. Widows indeed are those who are truly alone and in need of support, having no family members to care for them.
2. **Family Responsibility**: Paul emphasizes that the primary responsibility for caring for widows lies with their own family members, particularly children and grandchildren. He states that widows should first be supported by their own family if they are able.
3. **Qualifications for Widows Supported by the Church**:
- The widow should be at least sixty years old.
- She should have been the wife of one man, indicating faithfulness in her marriage.
- She should be known for good works, such as raising children, showing hospitality, and serving the saints.
- She should not be a gossiper or busybody.
4. **Avoidance of Idleness**: Paul advises that younger widows should not be included in the list of widows supported by the church, as they may be tempted to lead an idle and irresponsible life. Instead, he encourages them to remarry and manage their households.
5. **Spiritual Commitment**: Widows supported by the church should be committed to prayer and service to God.
6. **Assistance Provided with Caution**: The church should provide support for widows, but they should be careful not to support those who do not meet the criteria or who have family members capable of caring for them.
Paul’s guidance in 1 Timothy 5:3-16 reflects the early Christian community’s approach to caring for widows and emphasizes the importance of family responsibility and support for those who are truly in need.
I don’t blame them. The ignorant Commie RATS have dragged those people into America. It’s not the taxpayer’s job to feed them. The Dung Beetle Party turd rollers need to open their wallets and feed THEIR new voters.
Yes ,let the parents do THEIR JOB and the children get a little less brainwashing
The dirty secret of the government and the agriculture lobby: Every food program the government has instituted has resulted in obesity. It is well documented but not publicized.
The kids get breakfast, lunch and take-home dinners for the family and get fat.
Putting Principal ahead of buying votes.
Translation: Unnamed ranting Marxist trashbags.
Good for them. It is the responsibility of the parents to feed their children. My parents fed me and I fed my children. Let the parents spend some of their drug and alcohol money for food for their children.
On the one hand, there are any number of ways in which benefits can be misused.
On the other hand, $40 a month does not seem sufficient to feed a child.
And handouts are just plain wrong. They remove the incentive to better oneself and get a well-paying job. At the very least, anyone who is able-bodied should have to perform some kind of work in exchange for the handout.
