“Jesus Christ” is said in many places, including church and Bible study.
But one mother in Tennessee said her 7-year-old son was written up in school for saying “Jesus Christ.”
Shonna Coleman said she got a call from her son’s first grade teacher telling her the boy had said a bad word that day.
“So we was like, ‘OK, so...

Another tempest in a teapot.
Local Miami Florida media ran this story today. Obviously the media is unaware using Jesus’ name as a curse is offensive to Christians.
It is incredibly impolite to swear like that, given the obvious and reasonable sensibilities of the many devout and good Christians one might be surrounded by.
“F*ckingmohammed” would probably not go over too well in Saudi.
Did you read the story? The kid wasn’t testifying, he cursed when he dropped his Legos. His mom sounds like a real Mensa candidate...“So we was like, ‘OK, so what did he say?”.
Well, the article goes on to indicate:
“The disciplinary notice from Hope Sullivan Elementary School dated Jan. 4 said “He said Jesus Christ when he dropped his LEGOs he was cleaning up from recess.”
Oops
However, the student seems to have used it as a sign of exasperation, not in a respectful way.
And honestly, even when I was practically an atheist, it bothered me that using Our Lord’s name in vain was considered ok when mere 4-letter words were verboten! and looked down on.
My son got in trouble for saying “that’s gay” lol.
He probably heard it at home lol.
Next: Detention for anybody saying “God Bless You” to someone that sneezed.
Like Ralphie in “A Christmas Story.”
I got in trouble once at work for saying the Marriage is the union of 1 man and 1 woman.
I have no problem with what the school did as the kid was cussing.
What does the boy’s father have to say about this? Funny how these articles with mouthy moms never mention the dad.
Indoctrination centers despise their message being questioned.
Is Hope Sullivan Elementary School a Christian school?
Yeah, it’s silly. I wouldn’t want the Lord’s name taken in vain, but a Christian or a heathen.
Agree!……Christ was not honored but used as a swear word.
Jut wait, ‘Mom’ will sue the school and the teacher will be blamed!
It was because of my father that from the ages of seven to fifteen, I thought that my name was Jesus Christ and my brother, Russell, thought that his name was Dammit. “Dammit, will you stop all that noise?” And, “Jesus Christ, sit down!” One day, I’m out playing in the rain, and my father yelled, “Dammit will you get back in here!” I said, “Dad, I’m Jesus Christ!”
-Bill Cosby
“Now, I had heard that word at least ten times a day from my old man. He worked in profanity the way other artists might work in oils or clay. It was his true medium; a master.”
