The latest calculations from several science agencies showing Earth obliterated global heat records last year may seem scary. But scientists worry that what’s behind those numbers could be even worse.
The Associated Press asked more than three dozen scientists in interviews and emails what the smashed records mean. Most said they fear acceleration of climate change that is already right at the edge of the 1.5 degrees Celsius (2.7 Fahrenheit) increase since pre-industrial times that nations had hoped to stay within.
“The heat over the last calendar year was a dramatic message from Mother Nature,” said University of Arizona climate scientist Katharine Jacobs. Scientists say warming air and water is making deadly and costly heat waves, floods, droughts, storms and wildfires more intense and more likely.

The primary change in temperatures is caused by El Niño. During El Niño, trade winds weaken. Warm water is pushed back east, toward the west coast of the Americas. The rise in temperatures is exacerbated by poorly placed “weather recording stations”. If only stations located in rural areas in the United States are counted there has been no warming trend in the United States in over 30 years.
Gimme some of that heat...

I doubt if these temperature measurements are even being carried out correctly. But for a moment let’s assume that they are.
There is no such thing as an exact measurement. Every measurement has a built-in uncertainty, a range of numbers. Somewhere within that range the true value probably is. And the more difficult the measurement, the wider that range is.
I suspect that these “climate change” scientists are picking whatever number in that range suits them best.
For example, suppose a temperature measurement is 18 degrees Celsius, plus or minus 2 degrees Celsius. If he wants a large temperature number, an unethical scientist will just report 20 degrees Celsius.
The ethical scientist will report 18 degrees Celsius +/- 2 degrees Celsius. But we never see that in Climate Change stories.
The real outrage is that no one is allowed to discuss this. We must just accept the numbers, or be cancelled. It’s all very Stalinist.

Don’t be so shock-sure. The Government has been tinkering with and weaponizing weather for decades. What do you think all those white streams of crap in the sky are? And do you really trust this government, or any government, to have your best “human” interests in mind with everything they do?

We didn’t have a single day over 100 in my little neck of the woods when every year as long as O remember we would have a week of 100s. They also conveniently leave out the winter before there was damn near 50 feet of snow

I guess since it’s warming that means that the temperatures are going to be in the low 20’s instead of the high teens.
I find it hard to move my give a shart meter when the temp was zero this morning in New Mexico.

... and money ... don’t forget about money, and there’s a lot to be had if a self-proclaimed “climate scientist” has no problem basing their “scientific” conclusions on increasing their odds of receiving a sizable grant than on science (or on politics as far too many “scientists” practice political science rather than science.

Heading for 40 BELOW in north-central Montana tonight...that is ACTUAL temperature, NOT wind chill.
if it is hot it is proof of global warming, if it is cold it is just weather.

Water vapor is the main greenhouse gas.
Water vapor pretty much drowns out any effect of CO2 except for in some very dry places.
Ozone is a greenhouse gas. The Montreal Protocol reduced the amount and types of freon that destroy ozone. When ozone destruction was reduced by the Montreal Protocol, the atmosphere retained more ozone and planet warmed a little bit in the 1990s.
Ozone is partially produced by burning petroleum products, which is mainly done in urban areas. Ozone has a short life, so such burning has no long-term (or significant) effect.
The way these numbers are gathered, and from where they are gathered makes it a crime against science to claim they mean anything
