WASHINGTON — While the 2022 Dobbs decision overturned 1973’s Roe v. Wade, striking down the nation’s federal abortion law, the pro-life effort continues in 2024, as the battle shifts to the states.
The 51st-annual March for Life in Washington, D.C., will be held Friday, Jan. 19, 1 to 4 p.m.
The March for Life website explains that the annual event occurs in support of continued legislative efforts to restrict abortion “until a culture of life is restored in the United States of America.”
The event kicks off with a rally at noon on the National Mall between the Washington Monument and 10th Street and follows an altered route from previous years that ends between the U.S. Capitol and Supreme Court building. Participants are encouraged to share their views with elected officials upon completion of the march.
A variety of other events will occur in conjunction with the main event, including a March for Life Expo for pro-life organizations at the Westin DC Downtown hotel, starting on Jan. 17, a pro-life advocacy workshop on Jan. 18 and the Rose Dinner Gala on Jan. 19.
This year’s theme is: “Pro-Life: With Every Woman, for Every Child.” In the November announcement of the theme, March for Life President Jeanne Mancini emphasized, “It is right to choose life.”
The March for Life began by Catholic convert Nellie Gray (1924-2012) in 1974 and has grown to become the biggest pro-life event in the world, drawing crowds of more than 100,000. It is televised live each year by EWTN.

Roe is no more but some states are slacking on the job. We need to spread the prolife message.
The Democrat party has chosen it’s side to back here, and you
can notice it’s for political benefit. “Her body, her choice”
is the battle cry. Women fall for it, and dedicate their
vote to those who side with them, in killing their offspring.
Our side defends those who have no power to vote, or to pay
us back for caring about their interests.
It’s a moral stand. We chose morals vs direct benefit. It’s
the right thing to do.
Notice how “our body, our choice” didn’t matter when it
came to having to take the Covid Vaccine.
I love women, but sometimes you can’t help but scratch
your head, the absence of clear thought.
Most of the people at the March for Life are women.
Some are women who regret their abortion.
Some are just pro life women.
It’s mostly men who want abortion legal, not women.
Contrast that with the typical pro-abortion event. Filled with nobody but angry, bitter harridans whose faces are absent any smile whatsoever. They can't smile: their mouths are too twisted into snarls of rage. Pro-abortion people are driven not by love but by HATE and it shows in their appearance. The pro-abortion crowd is UGLY in heart, mind, AND body.
I know who I more want to be associated with.
Most of today's men actually don't care about the issue on any deep level--just like they don't care about other issues enough to get involved. Many of these men are OK with abortion because (along with no-fault divorce, refusal to get married, and birth control) it allows them to have irresponsible sex and a greater ability to exploit women. Even many men that profess to be pro-life are content to let women be on the front lines. It's disgusting what both men and women have become in our society.
Yes I have noticed this.
I have seen the deathscorts at the clinics and they are very angry. Anger btw is a sign of depression.
I have seen pro choice protests and they are always angry.
At prolife events they are always happy and smiling.
I’ve seen men at pro choice events.
You know why they go there? Easy sex. Yes they are pro choice for the reasons you said, mostly not wanting to pay child support.
The best way for that to happen is to be a member of an insular religious community.
So all of this discussion is rather silly. America is a pro-choice nation.
Sorry, not buying that. Thanks for your view on it.
Is it your take 60% of men are going to vote Democrats
because of the repeal of Roe vs Wade?
Nah...
From sea to shining sea
Let abortion cease to be!
While I cheered the Dobbs decision I instantly realized that we would suddenly be fighting on FIFTY fronts, some much more hostile than others but none to be taken for granted.

Thank you for the information update. I don’t know if I can make it but, will fast and pray.
BTW, my whole family and extended family both male and female are TOTALLY pro-life. My sister-in-law has previously sung at the D.C. Rally.
Amen
The effort to save human lives is never silly. Nothing good is ever achieved by rolling over and giving up. You can resign yourself to the slaughter of innocents in this country. The rest of us will continue to take up the fight to change hearts and minds. If we're wasting our time, it's our time to waste. But I'd rather go to my grave knowing I stood up for life.
I disagree. We have to concede on some issues (such as abortion) so we don’t end up living in a Orwelian state ruled by the Democratic Party. Looks like we’re heading down that road if we’re not careful.
Of course you are free to disagree. But how is it possible to compromise on an issue that dooms millions of innocent human beings to an unjust and savagely brutal death by dismemberment, dissolving in saline, or lethal injection (using the same chemical they use on murderers who get the death penalty)? Are we going to concede when the next step on the slippery slope is infanticide of born babies? They are the same human beings they were just a few weeks ago on the other side of the birth canal. What is the difference? And after it becomes OK to savagely murder the unborn and the recently born, what about other humans that are inconvenient--the sick, the disabled, the aged that have no value in our society. Are you OK with all that? You know as well as I do, just as with homosexuality and transgenderism, the Culture of Death will not draw the line anywhere.
You’re not going to persuade many Americans with that approach. Maybe a shift in strategy is necessary.
If it involves compromising on even one precious innocent human life, I'm not interested.
I agree.
Nice… thank you.
