Is that Archie Bunker freezing in his chair there?
Man, them wuz teh daze...
If only cows and SUVs could do more.
Memphis, TN is supposed to get ONE INCH of snow. Having lived in the area for 50+ years, few know how to drive in it, so everything gets shut down. Good thing it’s MLK day. There might be some ice under that.
Ha. Crafty, wasn’t he?
LOL
Wow, winter temps in January! Where is that Glowbull warming when you need it?
“Office workers commute in a totally different environment than some guy on a ranch with a Ford F-150.”
For sure. I didn’t fully realize that until that day. The other thing I found out was those engineers in the office were strictly 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. AND they had summer hours where they got off at 3:30 or 4:00 so they could enjoy outdoor activities. In the field, we were working long hours getting plants started up with no regard for the clock or calendar. I was resentful and mad about the laziness I saw in the home office.
My #2 grandson was born at Ft. Riley Kansas Feb 3. We flew there and stayed at a hotel in Manhattan KS. Glad I got a rental car with heated seats, as the morning temp that month averaged a minus 10.
I better bring my houseplants inside.
My grandson was at Riley for a year.
Now at Hood.
Now at Hood.
Friendly people in the neighboring towns, Manhattan and Junction City. Ogden was "interesting".
It was funny when my daughter was there, she and her then-husband were both regular Army, he an E-5, she an E-4. When she went into labor, hubby was out on maneuvers, so she drove herself to the hospital. While there, still in uniform, the civilian lady would not admit her until she gave the name of her "sponsor". The conversation went something like this:
Hospital lady: "And what's the name of your sponsor, dear?"Daughter: "My sponsor? Me!"
Hospital lady: "No dear, I need the name of your Army spouse. I can't admit you until I have the name of your significant other, whom I presume is a soldier."
Daughter [waving arms showing that she's in uniform]
Hospital lady [looking up from her computer, and finally getting the idea]: "Oh! Nevermind"
All those “anti-coal” idiots are going to be soooo glad to have electricity ONLY BECAUSE of those coal fired power plants.
