Diversity, equity, and inclusion, or DEI, in higher education was deceptively sold as a set of policies designed to promote "the fair treatment and full participation of all people," particularly groups that "have historically been underrepresented." But DEI offices have proved to be epicenters of division and ideological conformity, stirring hostilities and imposing an intolerant monoculture.
Fortunately, 2023 saw more than a dozen states start to take action against the DEI hydra, with six achieving concrete steps that other states should follow.
In Florida, colleges and universities are no longer allowed to allocate any money to DEI programs. Institutions across the state have, in consequence, eliminated DEI jobs, such as chief diversity officers. This is greatly to the good of real education and social cohesion. These officers are often in charge of college "bias response teams" that function as "woke" police on campuses. A Supreme Court case is set to shut many of these programs down, but states can take proactive steps now to solve the problem faster.
Texas passed its law curbing excesses this year, eliminating all DEI office training for staff and, more importantly, eliminating diversity statements in hiring. Universities nationwide use mandatory diversity statements to enforce ideological conformity in disciplines as varied as physics, history, and psychology. Junking these loyalty oaths is a key step to diversifying thought on campuses.

RATs will figure out a way to rename it and package it as something else and yet it will do t he same thing.
Speaking of DEI.

Hey
@united
On July 29, a United plane was nearly totaled after a hard landing
Who was flying that aircraft?
Was the co-pilot a former flight attendant who was FIRED and then rehired through United’s DEI program despite being on a list to not return to United?
Am I correct that this individual failed multiple trainings including simulator training?
Am I also correct that United has covered up this DEI disaster and many others?
We need to get back to promoting real diversity of thought, not just superficial diversity of appearance.

Wonderful commentary there, mjp.
It's shocking to that Harvard hired Gray given her obvious hatred of what she imagines America to be -- as if it's a country waging constant warfare against the "colored" peoples" with incessant white and Asian "privileged" people as oppressing them.
This is full-bore Karl Marx and Lenin doctrine! From her memo:
Apparently she sees no value in merit, hard work, and value delivered via private enterprise and allowing prices and supply/demand to automatically decide who wins and who loses in the business marketplace.
Sad to say, but the Hamas attack and the Harvard community's rallying behind Hamas served a useful purpose of sounding the alarm against this academic insanity.
And this false and sick doctrine has allowed liberal arts colleges and universities to manufacture millions of "minds of mush" as Rush would say.
I'm all in favor of Trump's plan to deliver free ( or low cost) higher education and degrees to challenge these Marxist universities and prevent them from poisoning our common-wealth and civil society.
Yours is a good analysis of her chaotic thinking when she’s angling for a job.
BTW, Gay’s self-serving revisionist history to restore her self-confidence has already surfaced.
She now claims the genocide question posed to her by Congress was a “well-laid trap.”
The woman is nothing without DEI sustaining her.
The left, and all their bosom buddies, need to come to grips with the facts that outright
rejection of Western values (in the DEI hire of Claudine Gay) has enormous consequences.
Harvard’s Brave New World failed spectacularly.
Harvard has lost its honor, its academic preeminence and faces problems yet to
surface when it chose to burden itself with the cumbersome baggage of Claudine Gay.
To blame this on conservatism is preposterous.
Conservatism did not make Claudine say and do the things that contributed to her fall from grace.
Rather Claudine Gay was taking her cues from liberalism. She disdained and demeaned
cultural norms, and appeared to have not even a modicum of limits on her behavior.
IOW, a perfect liberal.
Gay exploited human weaknesses in a place-—Harvard-—
which goes to extraordinary lengths to do just the opposite.
One educated at Harvard is expected to be among the best and brightest........
not resemble a needy dithering halfwit dependent on DEI to get ahead.
This to me is laughable, that they actually have on the payroll
an “Associate Dean of Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging.”
Parents need to rethink sending their kids to Harvard - especially if they’re white.
