Former White House lawyer Ty Cobb predicted Tuesday that the U.S. Supreme Court could rule “9-0” in favor of former President Trump in a potential appeal of Colorado Supreme Court’s ruling that would kick Trump off the state’s ballot.
“I think this case will be handled quickly. I think it could be 9-0 in the Supreme Court for Trump,” Cobb said in an interview on CNN, adding later, “I do believe it could be 9-0, because I think the law is clear.”
The Colorado Supreme Court issued a ruling Tuesday that Trump should not appear on Colorado’s ballot due to his alleged role in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack.
But Karen from Maine said NOOOOOO!
9-0.
Slam Dunk.
.
I could go on
If one reads the actual amendment it doesn’t apply to Trump in Article III and enforcement is only via Congress in Article IV. Any SCOTUS member who votes in favor of Colorado needs to be pressured for removal from the bench.
I agree it should be 9-0, but there is a non-zero chance that SCOTUS could either punt or rule against Trump. My question is, what would everyone who is dead-certain that SCOTUS will rule in his favor do then?
Great, let’s hope so.
Democracy NOT DEMOCRATS !!!
So did 5 Mr. Karens in Colorado.
It wouldn’t Suprise me if the guy who likes beer recuses himself. maybe other Trump appointees do as well.
it almost certainly will be 9-0 for Trump, because otherwise every state in the union will immediately start making up reasons to kick either Biden or Trump and anyone else they don’t agree with off the ballot.
I believe SCOTUS will allow Trump to run. States don’t have standing on the 14th Amendment to prohibit based on section 5. You people need to read all Sections.
Section 5
The Congress shall have the power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article.
The article was published on December 19th not the 29th as the OP suggests.
Democrats will buen loot and murder again when this happens.
Ironically, a 9-0 Roberts ruling strictly on ballot access, would not be as satisfying as a 5-4 bare-majority in-your-face omnibus ruling from Alito absolving Trump, from both this ballot perfidy by Colorado and Maine, but also extending Unitary Executive privilege to some or all of the other lawfare in progress.
Just to burn your Sunday bacon, here's a quote from the colorful counselor Cobb, from August, 2023:
"Cobb wrote on Facebook that "On the state of mind issues above, there will be evidence from more than one or two witnesses that Trump acknowledged that he lost. That is just the cherry on top of a mountain of evidence that would satisfy the 'reckless disregard' or 'should have known' standards that are alternatives to proving actual knowledge. He knew. He is toast. DC jury: He is done. Until he wins the election and the fun begins all over."
