Maine secretary of state disqualifies Trump from 2024 ballot

Maine’s Democratic Secretary of State Shenna Bellows on Thursday disqualified former President Donald Trump from the state’s 2024 ballot, citing the 14th Amendment’s insurrection clause.

-snip

“I do not reach this conclusion lightly. Democracy is sacred,” Bellows wrote in her 34-page decision on multiple complaints challenging the 77-year-old Trump’s eligibility for the primary ballot in Maine based on his actions leading up to and during the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the US Capitol.

“I am mindful that no Secretary of State has ever deprived a presidential candidate of ballot access based on Section Three of the Fourteenth Amendment. I am also mindful, however, that no presidential candidate has ever before engaged in insurrection,” she stated, calling the riot at the Capitol “unprecedented and tragic.”

“They were an attack not only upon the Capitol and government officials, but also an attack on the rule of law. The evidence here demonstrates that they occurred at the behest of, and with the knowledge and support of, the outgoing President,” Bellows argued.

“I conclude that the Rosen and Royal Challengers have met their burden … They have provided sufficient evidence to demonstrate the falsity of Mr. Trump’s declaration that he meets the qualifications of the office of the presidency. Therefore, as required … I find that the primary petition of Mr. Trump is invalid,” she ruled.

Bellows noted that her decision would be suspended until the Maine Superior Court rules on the Trump campaign’s expected appeal.

The Maine Republican primary election will take place on March 5.

Unlike in Colorado and Michigan, Maine’s process for ballot eligibility is first deliberated by the secretary of state before courts can get involved.

If Maine is so woke why does the state need to have both RCV and RCV-enabled electronic voting machines, hmmmm?

And if it’s so woke, why the need to keep Trump off the ballot?

Deep State doesn’t think enough of Maine’s voters are woke, does it...

Also known as a committed communist.

Same day voting makes no sense at all. It’s a license for voter fraud.

The coast is thoroughly rancid with woke. But the vast majority of the interior (land wise) is like backwoods Alabama, but with moose.

To ensure their continued “success”.
Why do Philadelphia precincts vote over 100% for dumblecrats? To offset the conservative middle of PA.

Most of northern Maine is fairly conservative but southern Maine is leftist as all get out, centered in Portland.

You and I both know RCV is a scam and we saw how it worked in AK. They don’t want your conservative vote to count...only theirs.

No. It was not a riot, it was a false flag event. FIB and DC Keystone Cops propagated this crap.

Exactly.

And, the “professor” should very well know this.

Looks like the Soros project to elect secretaries of state is bearing fruit. It’s not enough that these rogue communists be overturned by the courts. They must be driven from office and humiliated. The left is riding the insurrection hoax into the ground.

I concur.

Get a load of this, from October...

https://mainebeacon.com/no-excuse-absentee-voting-helps-build-voter-turnout-in-maine/

Maine has no excuse absentee...

It has RCV, RCV-enabled voting machines, allows the incarcerated to vote...

And Deep State still had Trump kicked off the ballot.

As someone who grew up on the Maine coast, this is exactly why I no longer reside there. Yes, voting with your feet is a real thing.

And what about the Capitol Police that fired rubber bullets and tear gas at a crowd that was peaceful thus instigating violence? What about undercover FBI members and informants inciting the Capital. Many of us question the Government narrative because we don’t have access to all the facts. Chris Wray refuses to answer the questions put to him by Republican Congressman about the “Ghost buses”.

Voting with the feet is delusional.

There’s not a red state in the nation.

Which Texas is about to find out the hard way.

And there is a legitimate criticism that Trump should have acted fasted to tell people to go home.

Well look at you, all mediocre and such playing both sides. He was banned from the biggest social media platforms but somehow must post on them. The media refuses to cover his speeches in full length while ignoring actual facts such as section in his speech in which he said to "peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard."

So how long have you been a volunteer on Chris Christie's campaign?

Why is that so-called blue states are kicking Trump off the ballot?

If those states are so blue, what’s the worry, eh?

I think I’m having a bit of a paradigm shift...

We have red populations controlled by blue legislatures...

When NYC now has RCV...

I think I’m onto something...

She makes a grand statement then immediately stays her decision. She must be really sure of her reasoning, not.

This is all headline grabbing.

Just let them keep Trump off the ballot. Then, after the election, declare the process unconstitutional and invalidate all their electoral votes.

file charges against biden and crew for gross negligence of duty by helping 9m+ skip around immigration control and get settled in red areas.

then keep him off the ballot for that reason.
