The U.S. Navy fired anti-ship ballistic missiles on Tuesday against incoming Iran-backed Houthi missiles in the Red Sea, signaling a significant escalation in the region, a senior defense official told Fox News.
The Navy engaged three ballistic missiles provided to Yemen's Houthis by Iran. It was the first time the Navy shot down an incoming ballistic missile using an anti-ship ballistic missile.
The USS Laboon and assets from the Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group shot down 12 one-way attack drones, three anti-ship ballistic missiles and two land attack missiles fired by the Houthis over a 12-hour period, U.S. Central Command said.

Either smash them like the bugs they are or leave.
This is ridiculous.

Indeed. Why are we putting up with these attacks?
Great practice for our stuff. So far 100% kill rate.
Why did they not sink ships with their anti-ship missiles?
Nuke ‘em ‘till they glow; then shoot ‘em in the dark.
We’re using up our missile stocks at sea.
“So far 100% kill rate.”
So far, anyway.

I’m assuming they’re not talking about Harpoon missiles, that as far as I know would be useless against incoming missiles, but instead a variation of the Standard missile that has been modified to attack surface ships. If that’s the case, I presume that the repurposed Standard missile would still be able to handle anti-missile duty as well, which it excels at.
Yes, but using a $1-2 million dollar missile to shoot down one $20K suicide drone is a losing proposition in the long run.
Fry the launch sites— that will slow up the thugees.
You know why. Biden.
We’re using up our missile stocks at sea.
><><
That’s right and faster than they can be manufactured.
We’re using $2 million missiles to shoot down $2 thousand drones.
You sure have that right.
100% “Kill Rate”?! They didn’t kill anybody! To hell with that! These attackers should be vaporized! We need a 100% kill rate on every one of these maniacs, every time they decide to attack a ship at sea. If this is not happening it’s because those in power do not want to retaliate. They want what’s happening to continue. If some of our merchantmen get blown to smithereens, too bad; money talks.
We’re finding out what works. Because we’re going to see drones a lot in the future.
It seems to me the article is confused about who shot at what with what.
These kills were the work of F-18s firing AIM-9X and AIM-120 AMRAAMs.
We’ve shot like ten missiles. These drones could be taken out by a phalanx. I don’t think they are going to outlast us.
Thank you.
If we’re talking AIM-9Xs or even AMRAAMs, I’m good. If it’s Standards, this is unsustainable. The article is unclear.
