Pro-terrorist demonstrators tried to cancel Christmas at Rockefeller Center Monday; there were scuffles, some arrests, and a cop was injured — all in all, just another day in post-October 7 Gotham.

So what’s going on?

The late Daniel Patrick Moynihan would have known.

He saw things sooner than most, and he was among the first to note America’s growing tolerance for aberrative behavior.

“Defining deviancy down” is what he called it — and that was three decades ago.

But what would the great man have thought about New York’s acquiescence in a slow-rolling celebration of Islamist terror — now about to enter a third month?

Defining depravity down, perhaps?

It was more than three years ago when New York responded to the looting of the iconic Herald Square Macy’s by painting political graffiti in front of Trump Tower — and then electing DAs who refuse even to prosecute shoplifters.

That was appalling, of course, but at least it was comprehensible: Everybody loves free stuff, the George Floyd riots were viewed as legit political acts — and New York politicians are notably more cowardly than most.

One thing to remember is a lot of younger people today do not believe in God. They sometimes have a vague “spiritual” feeling like “being in nature” or meditating mindfully. But they don’t care if churches or synagogues burn or get blown up.

Many are adamantly against any supposed crossing the line between church and state. At the library where I used to work a young student was red faced to find we subscribed to the Journal of Church and State. It merely discusses both sides of various First Amendment cases and is rather dry reading.

Interrupting or canceling Christmas was popular before the tie-in with being pro-Hamas and pro-Islam.

there is no shortage of arafat rags for the ragheads wishing to buy one. Funny thing is the large amount of non-mud folks sporting brand new arafat rags, still have the fold creases from the packaging. Moynihan was talking out acceptance of everyday crime. The sign he offered as evidence was “ no radio” that was seen on car dashboards in NYC in the 70s. I used it myself. It was our way of dealing with criminal acts we knew knew would never be investigated let alone prosecuted. Buy my guess is Pat Moynihan had no idea of what our current America would become.
