NY Gov. Hochul condemns rise in antisemitism, hate crimes in Christmas speech: ‘This year is different’

Gov. Kathy Hochul used her Christmas address on Monday to condemn the spike in antisemitic hate crimes New York has seen in the aftermath of Hamas’ Oct. 7 terror attack against Israel and the subsequent war in the Middle East.

“In an ordinary year, my holiday message would be a simple expression of peace and good will,” Hochul said, “But this year is different, this year we must transcend wishes and platitudes. Instead of yearning for peace, let’s actually live it.”

The governor decried the recent wave of incidents targeting Jewish and Muslim New Yorkers, including one earlier this month in which a 28-year-old Iraq native allegedly fired a shotgun outside an Albany synagogue and then yelled, “Free Palestine!”

My normally very chill Vicar at church started off his Christmas mass homily with what evil and devastating events are going to visit us in 2024. He mentioned civil unrest, economic collapse, governmental authoritarianism, and racial conflict being cultivated by those in authority.

This guy does not do that. He had a near death experience in September which kept him away from the church for 2 months.

His homily ended with, "Be prepared to wrestle with unjust power and authority, and not with your neighbor."

This cat is a dedicated follower of liberalism. I'm not sure what now pushes him to speak of such things besides truth? I'm sure he will be hearing from the Archdiocese. I for one shouted an enthusiastic "Amen" at the end of his homily. Lots of nods and smiles.

I missed the "targeting of Moslem New Yorkers." Doubt it. But hey--anything's possible. It may even be possible that Moslem groups and puppet college Bolsheviks will get a clue. (I'm Catholic, I believe in miracles.)

But just as the Constitution protects (non-violent) free speech through the First Amendment, it has a Second one, just in case they can't control themselves.

I think you missed where he was saying this will all happen due to Trump and his supporters.

Could be I suppose, but in the past his digs and jabs against Teump and Trump supporters were never vague. The majority of our small parish is over 60. He caught it good when he got TDS in the past.
