Father of 3 killed in grocery store beating — 3 teens arrested after ‘laughing and enjoying themselves’

Three teenagers have been arrested for beating an Ohio father of three to death.

Columbus police say the incident happened at 7 p.m. on Dec. 6.

The three young men allegedly engaged the victim, 53-year-old Donnie Smith, inside a Kroger grocery store, WSXY-TV reported.

The suspects were asked to leave by security after getting into an altercation with patrons inside the store, and then the fight continued outside, police said.

Smith was taken to a hospital in critical condition, where he later died.

One of the friends who was with Smith at the time told WSXY the group was “trying to pick on whoever they could.”

Charging documents obtained by the local ABC station say Smith was “unconscious and bleeding from the head due to the beating” and that the group was “laughing and enjoying themselves” while assaulting him.

Police did not say how homicide detectives got on their trail, but they did say they arrested 18-year-old Dionta Hughes, 19-year-old Jamarion Evans-Bennett and 17-year-old Jayden Agee on murder charges.

Their savage behavior has brought the "N" word back in common usage among friends and family.

Among their friends and families. Decades of declaring this word to be grievously insulting apparently hasn't reached the latest generation, as the monotonal rap "music" they play at my workplace can't seem to use the word enough.

Someone told me that's done to 'rob the word of it's power', but I suspect it's a sick joke on non-blacks, purposely rubbing our noses in the hypocritical dual standards of usage (okay for one group and never for others).

The blacks in this country are evidently living a very different reality than whites. And they believe it.

After the horrendous race riots of the 60s, I always thought race relations had gradually gotten a lot better in the ensuing fifty years. Then the no-account mulatto community organizer arrived on the scene and he quickly undid fifty years of progress. People are sadly susceptible to constant rabble-rousing and victimology.

The pain does continue. We read in the news that this perfectly normal, intelligent, law abiding white father of xx children just got murdered for no reason at all by a black person. Our response seems to be, “That’s bad. What time does the football game start?”

I personally prefer to use "height equals" rather than "width equals" when forgoing the percentage method, especially when posting pictures side-by-side so they're neat. The 200 to 400 range seems to work well for most pictures, but I try to make sure any accompanying text is aesthetically correct as well. This may require careful use of 'break' and 'space'.

Another good practice is to include an 'alt note' after the dimensions (ex: alt=Helen Thomas), as many picture resaurces borrowed from may change or cease to exist over time. This way your typed note will remain to let the viewer know what you were referring to.
