Former President Donald Trump has been asking allies and advisers for their thoughts about Nikki Haley as a potential vice presidential candidate, two sources familiar with the conversations tell CBS News.
The feedback from the MAGA crowd regarding putting Haley on the ticket if Trump wins the GOP nomination has been overwhelmingly negative, according to these GOP sources. Politico first reported that Trump allies are working to quash the possibility of a Trump-Haley ticket.

If he picks Nikki, I’m not even bothering to vote.
Trump is throwing this out there so that she stops attacking him with the hope of very likely higher office.
Then flushes her when he has the nomination.
“If he picks Nikki, I’m not even bothering to vote.”

It would hurt him, no doubt.
But some of his people might be telling him it could help in the very short term just to get elected - with indies, moderates, women, etc. But even then, if it worked, he’d be stuck with someone who would Pence him when she had the chance.
What’s important is who has Trump’s ear between now and when the serious picking and choosing starts.

Trump’s net worth has only dropped since becoming President.
If money were the sole driver, he could have accomplished that by not running for President.
