As the death toll in Gaza reached an estimated 20,000 on Thursday, the majority of them women and children, a poll released last week by a leading Palestinian research firm offered a window into how Palestinians in Gaza and the occupied West Bank view the war.
The survey, which was conducted in late November, found that 63% of Palestinians polled favored “armed struggle” as the best strategy to secure an independent state and end Israel’s occupation. That represents a 10% rise in support since a survey conducted by the same center three months ago.
Only 20% of those polled supported negotiations and 13% backed non-violent protest. The results reflect the belief among many Palestinians that decades of appealing to the international community, conducting boycotts, and waiting for a two-state diplomatic solution have proved fruitless.
“It is important to understand that the majority of Palestinians do not see the attacks on Israel as terrorism,” said Khalil Sayegh, who was born and raised in Gaza, received a Master’s Degree from American University and is now a political analyst based in Washington, D.C.
“They see ‘armed struggle’ as a normal reaction for the Palestinians to gain their freedom out of the occupation,” he added.

Yasmine Salam sounds reliable, doesn’t it? It should have estimated2 million..
They’ve supported “Armed Struggle” long before October 7.
Since Hamas wears no uniform, all dead are considered “civilians”.
And, like the UN Sec Gen and the Pope, are unlawful enemy combatants.
Remember, these numbers and descriptions of the IDF “indiscriminate” shooting of civilians comes from the Palestinians, who are Muslims, and who believe in the Koran which tells them to lie.
since the 7th century
Another slanted view of things by the MSM. Perhaps you should mention munitions dumps stored in hospitals, schools, daycare centers and the like. Given high speed radar to track incoming missiles, apply a little trigonometry to the track, and you pretty much know where the missile originated. If the IDF wanted to, they could annihilate those missiles, if the bad guys were hiding behind the skirts of women and children.
Who has vetted these casualty numbers and confirmed how many were deliberate victims of Hamas for propo purposes?
Uh, Gaza was already essentially Independent [except it was unsustainable for Electricity, Petroleum products, Food and Potable Water].
A broken welfare society.
Their lot would never be improved, even if they were to conquer Israel.
It’s a existential Islam problem.
Ukraine allegedly, 300,000, Russia, allegedly 347,000 as per USMC ZZ mother, Mexico, 250,000, US 8,000,000 illegals, Yemen( Iran/Saudi’s) 500,000
China starvation and slaver, 20,000,000 a year?
American quality of life....failing
I call bullsh*t. Nothing that comes from the Palestinians can be accepted at face value.
But even if it is true, Hamas should have thought about what would happen if they poked the bear. You have to be an idiot to think you could kill a bunch of Israelis without them coming back at you harder than you could ever possibly believe.
20,000 is a good start.
Estimated by whom?
If its true (though I doubt the number) the story is kind of like the other war civilian casualty reports, that say the same thing over and over. It comes to a point that the town crier’s honesty is looked at like the boy that cried wolf.
I’ve been recovering from a knee replacement over the past month and I’ve had some time to watch the livestreams from Gaza.
Given that there are 2,000,000 plus people jammed into a very small area and considering the obvious destruction - especially at the beginning of the IDF campaign - I’m surprised that the death toll is ONLY 20,000.
I keep hoping for an IDF “mistake” that takes out a hospital with about 10,000
Palis in it - but apparently not going to happen.
Sounds like Israel needs to keep going. No quarter until they’re all begging for peace.
But they have the most advanced tunnel network in the world
I heard that Saudi Arabia is building a big and long ditch that they want everyone to live in. Might be the perfect solution for Gazans.
No surprise - some research has pointed to HAMAS (the official, ELECTED government of Gaza) enjoys an 85% ongoing approval/support rate from the people of Gaza -
You can’t make this stuff up. They have been indoctrinated for generations now to not just “hate Israel”, but to be even more bloodthirsty anti-semites (legitimate desire to commit genocide). THIS is why Israel has “unleashed Hell” - not because they want to kill off these people, but because anything short of eliminating Hamas will simply perpetuate the never-ending attacks from the Palestinians.
