Trump Faces Backlash After Calling Conservative Rep. Chip Roy a ‘RINO’ Who Should Be Primaried

Former President Donald Trump is facing a backlash after calling one of the most conservative members of Congress a RINO who should be primaried—one week after the filing deadline. Trump blasted Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas), a member of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, on Truth Social after the congressman endorsed Trump’s rival, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, for president.

“Has any smart and energetic Republican in the Great State of Texas decided to run in the Primary against RINO Congressman Chip Roy,” Trump wrote. “For the right person, he is very beatable. If interested, let me know!!!”

Trump’s comments appeared to many to be off the mark, as Roy has a 98 percent conservative voting record according to Heritage Action, and is the only Republican who scored a “perfect zero” on voting for Biden’s agenda in 2022, according to Rollcall.

Reps. Lauren Boebert of Colorado, Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, Clay Higgins of Louisiana and Bob Good of Virginia and then-Rep. Van Taylor of Texas each voted with Biden on 1 percent of votes in which CQ Roll Call determined the president had a clear position. Because there were only 66 presidential support votes in the House last year, that 1 percent equates to one vote.

Also, as Iowa-based conservative radio host Steve Deace pointed out, the candidate filing deadline for the 2024 primary elections in Texas was December 11, 2023.

“Is anything more Trumpian than threatening one of the only truly honest members of Congress because he doesn’t kneel before Zod, but also stupidly doing so more than a week after the filing deadline?” Deace wrote on X. “Trumpian bluster followed by a Trumpian lack of attention to detail.”

Owdawg- this is amazing. It is exhausting

“Let me ask you, have you ever seen or have you ever known a perfect person? Are…”

Jesus.

He is God though so it doesn’t count

I hear this from everyone, and forget my Catholic friends. They want a saint.

They say Trump needs to be perfect.

I attempt- “his job is to protect and defend the constitution”. Nope. I try, “we’re there any perfect presidents” crickets

What IS this phenomenon. And no appreciation for how Trump defends and protects the constitution. Like no one before him. Certainly no one running against him

Actually, still in our culture, Jesus is separate when talking about humans being perfect. Jesus was human, but much more than human.

”Trump doesn’t care about the party, Trump doesn’t care who has a majority in Congress or the Senate, his endorsements in the last cycle show that. All he cares about is loyalty to Trump.”

Congress doesn’t care about the party, congresspeople don’t care who has a majority in Congress or the Senate, their rulings in the last cycle show that. All they care about is keeping themselves in their fat and happy congress seats.

“Trump doesn’t care about the party,- they sure do not care about him. Trump doesn’t care who has a majority in Congress or the Senate- why should he? What do they do with thei majority? They work with democrats to destroy the country. They had to kick out the leader by a verrry small margin to keep them from working with the democrat president giving taxpayer money to a completely foreign cause, running the deficit to 34 trillion. Trump’s his endorsements in the last cycle show that he can assist congress to turn conservative and non corrupt. All he cares about is loyalty to the country, we tge people, and the constitution .

He was/is divine.

There are no perfect people

Did you ever hear Trump isn’t perfect? I have. I get reminded of it quite nauseatingly often

“Conservative” <>= MAGA.

Unfortunately, “Conservative” don’t hunt no more when it comes to saving the Country and Western Civ.

Who is more likely to close the border, shut down the CCP influence in the USA, move towards balancing the budget [clearly NOT Trump’s forte], restore a single level of the Rule of Law, make the USA energy independent, halt the Revolution, smite Jihad, promote international freedom of commerce, refrain from foreign wars, etc.?

It is silly to believe that Trump is somehow the anchor of conservatism.
Apparently to want someone else than Trump makes one a liberal. Oh….and disloyal too.

It’s silly to believe that supporting a guy who spouts Bushie lines is “conservative”.

Again, another RINO NPC...

BTW, while you’re here earning your keep would ye kindly donate to the freepathon so you can keep your job? K, thx!

Unfortunately, you will have to name one better to get on with the job.

I remain ignorant of your insight into the future.

It is completely immaterial to his being the president, his state of grace

What state of grace is the priest in who consecrates the Eucharist. The church teaches that that is immaterial to the state of the consecrated Eucharist

Why then is trumps state of sin or grace material to anything.

It’s immaterial

The state of sin and grace is never the subject of discussion regarding publicly pro abortion politicians who are publicly unashamedly in the state of sine the catholic ones take communion. Clergy give them communion. This is never discussed

Trump who has beaten every single legal case where he is charged with crimes he is honest

That doesn’t get talked about

I’m vastly more confident in DeSantis’ ability to get these things done than I am in Trump’s.

It’s a moot point, I’ll concede. DeSantis is unlikely to get the GOP nomination. It seems too many would rather lose with a bloviating circus clown than win with a proven conservative leader.

Chip Roy is a rino ass**** in a conservative disguise-he colluded to get our excellent attorney general impeached among other stupid things-he is my congresscritter, but we rural folks have our votes diluted by the democrats in the city 50 miles away. My neighbors and I will pitch in money for his moving expenses if y’all want Rino Chip to move to your state and open a law office-good riddance...

Oh, so you actually believe Biden got 81 million votes and they were all legitimate.
***********************************************************
Rereading my post I don’t see mention of Biden or 81 million votes.

Trump sank his own triving economy, funded the election steal, doled out CARES money causing inflation and subsidizing tyranical extended lockdown. He gave us the death jabs while twisting the arms of governors to lockdown or stay locked down to “flatten the curve”, all while he hurled insults at those of us resisting the jabs. Jabs made from a technology that for over a decade never got through a single clinical trial because of known dangers and ineffectiveness. But he had to be the “Warp Speed” savior with his “three vaccines all are very, very good” ,beautiful vaccines”, ”one of the greatest achievements of mankind”. How’s that working out for young athletic males today? He got played and failed at multiple levels in 2020 and negated almost all the good things he did prior.

I’ll bet you think the Captain of the Costa Concordia deserves to be back the helm of a cruise ship too?
