We need more humans. That’s the message from two of the world’s richest billionaires, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
While the two compete in the space business—Bezos owns Blue Origin while Musk has SpaceX—they agree on certain aspect’s of humanity’s future.
“I think in a lot of these endeavors we're very like-minded,” Bezos said on an episode of the Lex Fridman Podcast released this week. He added, “I don't really know Elon very well,” but he said that he liked the idea of forming a friendship with him.
Asked what he hoped for humanity’s future in outer space hundreds or thousands of years from now, he replied:
“I would love to see, you know, a trillion humans living in the solar system. If we had a trillion humans, we would have at any given time a thousand Mozarts and a thousand Einsteins…Our solar system would be full of life and intelligence and energy.”
What companies like Blue Origin and SpaceX are doing, he said, is creating the space infrastructure upon which future generations can build greater things.
“When I started Amazon, I didn't have to develop a payment system. It already existed. It was called the credit card,” he said. “I didn't have to develop a transportation system to deliver the packages. It already existed. It was called the postal service and Royal Mail and Deutsche Post. And so all this heavy lifting infrastructure was already in place. And I could stand on its shoulders.”
He said that he wanted to use his “Amazon winnings” to build heavy infrastructure that will be used by the space entrepreneurs of future generations.

His assumption that the number of brilliant people is a percentage of a given population is TOTALLY FLAWED. There is a necessary environment for brilliance to come forth. For example, consider the colonies that produced brilliant political thinkers that led to the USA. Also consider the lack of advancement from the populations of low-IQ nations in Africa and the Middle East.
Does this mean we would have a 1,000 variations of eine kleine nachtmusik?
I'll pass
I was impressed with Bezos. I’m sure I don’t believe in everything he believes but he was rational.
Humans are the real resource. If developed it is humans that equal wealth.
Money is itself no more than a measure of human time. Anything with a cost/price is no more than the aggregate of all human time invested in that product.
Human population is like science and technology. There is no finite limit. It is simply not true that the earth is over populated and there is no fixed maximum population. Heck, humans could over time move to space, moons, other planets, even solar systems as in science fiction. No, that is not impossible.
Those people who advocate to depopulate have an ideological agenda which is normally behind their insane world view, example Bill Gates whose family wealth originally came through his father, a pro-abortion lawyer. Behind these climate change and world population apocalypse agenda’s is an ideology, normally far left, feminist, and globalist. It’s normally nonreligious, anti-family, anti-child, anti-individual, anti-freedom.
Claiming their is a limit to the worlds population, is like claiming there is a limit in processor speed, or maximum memory ever required by a PC: “640K ought to be enough for anybody,” Bill Gates, 1981. Which he now denies.
People that achieve great success, even though it is through cheating, lying and stealing, are surrounded by sucks and often begin to believe themselves that they are some great genius and with unparalleled in and foresight. Reality is that folks like Zuckerberg, Gates, Bezos, Bourla, Soros and MOST others at that level achieved their great success through immoral, unethical, often illegal acts and then want to give the world a TED talk about how awesome they are and dispense advice to the world. While they were great in some moment in seizing an opportunity and then riding this to the top like a Zuckerberg, they are hardly the technical genius nor moral beacon to be followed.
The genius Gates after being caught breaking the law regards Netscape: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjm2ZZg6MAQ And then there was stealing from Borland, changing the laws and going after kids so that MS could make disgusting profits on a product that was worth pennies... But these folks often really end up believing they are some super human and then want to give mankind a dose of their philosophy on life.
Awesome post.
A thousand AOCs is enough to kill off this idea quickly.
*shudders*
Bill Gates is a disgusting crook, always has been. Don't forget that he stole the Macintosh OS code from Apple in order to engineer it into creating Windows. As bad as the Chinese, stealing intellectual property rather than engineer it himself.
