The US Army is facing a TikTok mutiny as Gen Z recruits are taking to social media to whine about low pay, 'sh***y' food and fitness tests.
The brazen posts - by uniformed troops on US bases - represent an audacious challenge to top brass amid a recruitment crisis. The Army fell short of its target by 25 percent last year.
One of the posts by military influencer Anthony Laster slams Army life for having 'No Privacy, The Pay Sucks, Sh***y Food, Disrespectful Leadership, NO SLEEP!' and has been viewed more than 600,000 times.
Laster, from Chicago, has more than a million followers on TikTok and made the public comments in uniform while on mission in the desert. In another post he claimed he spent his whole day watching TikToks while supposedly fighting the Taliban.
It gives a woeful impression of America's fighting forces to potential recruits, which is likely to cause further animosity toward TikTok from critics

in WW2, my dad said it was the Navy. He was Army Air Corps and they would rob the Navy stores on Okinawa to get the good stuff. It helped to have a crane.
I was playing cards with a guy who just got out of the military. He complained about the low pay until I pointed out the $1,500+ stereo we were listening to in his house. Top of the line Sansui he got while in the service.

Our Marines are always honorable, as usual.
Our government may not always have the best interest for our troops. The MIC is in favor of a war of attrition that lasts for decades.
Look at Vietnam. Afghanistan.
You have no idea how true this is. And they're all in non-combat logistics positions. And you can't yell at them or they'll drop a CMEO complaint for hostile workplace and bring your career to a crushing end.
Most of the old-timers just want to keep their heads down and not make waves until they hit 20 so they can retire with a pension.

As far as hard living, many GIs in certain units live very hard and dangerous days and nights even between wars.
The man in the center of that photo disagrees with you and your put-downs and insults.
I have family in the Army. Both Captains, both can't wait to get out. Their units are way under-strength but their missions/training is still set for full-strength units.
Ridiculous high tempo of long rotations are ruining the families of those who try to stay in.
Social media such as reddit and facebook are causing a lot of problems because the worst examples of leadership are exposed and shared across the force. On reddit/army you can read practically unlimited cases of dumbassery that good troops have to deal with.
BMT is just that, Basic Military training, there is always more training after that. Be it school room or OJT.
BMT is supposed to get you in the “right” mind and to weed out those that don’t belong, so when they get out in the real military, they get their jobs done without killing themselves, or their fellow soldiers.
That was when the Air guys were in the Army, they will never suffer like that again or die in those numbers again.

I don't know when you served but most today do not live very hard lives at all.
On base, they live in enlisted quarters, which are like college dorm rooms with kitchens and WiFi. Typically, an E5 can qualify for an apartment out in town that the military will pay BAH for.
And today's military gets paid very well. Most have no idea how good they've got it until they get out and have to trade their Tricare for Obamacare.
You keep missing the point for some reason.

Insubordination. These twerps think they can fight a war or us?
Young people do tend to have some unrealistic expectations. I expected a John Wayne military. Today it's a Call of Duty military. Neither one are real. And anyone who bitches about not being in combat has never been in combat. Or is certifiable. IMHO, of course.
