FORT WORTH - "My son had a lot of dreams and he was so talented," said Latoiya Landers. "I don't get it."
Landers' 14-year-old son Devin Baker was shot and killed Thursday morning after allegedly attempting to break in to a home in the Rosemont neighborhood. Now, Fort Worth police are investigating.
Police say they were called to the 5200 block of Southcrest Ct. in the Rosemont neighborhood of Fort Worth early Thursday morning for a call about a prowler. When they got there, a woman told them several people were attempting to break into her home but they had left the scene.

Not getting shot is for whitey.
We can thank liberalism for this.
Gee. What would be a good curfew for a 14 year old on a Wednesday night? 6am Thursday? Sorry Mama. This one is on you. SMH

All you need to read is that the owner shot and self-defense a person who is attempting to break into their house. The parents of that kid should look in the mirror and reflect on what they did wrong and raising their kid, and other parents, especially whose kids were friends of this kid should reconsider how they are raising their kids and who their kids associate with.
Presuming the police took her gun, I hope she has another one to protect herself if there is a future, repeat, attempt to burglarize and threaten her.
“My son had a lot of dreams and he was so talented,”
Not very talented at B&E, apparently.
I would imagine the homeowner, who is also likely a black female, will be cleared. Prowling after dark in Texas is enough cause to get you killed, legally.
I am truly sorry for the mother and for the tragic situation that occurred. The boy reaped a terrible reward for his crime, and a homeowner has to deal with the emotional scar because of the boy’s evil deed. In time, I hope the mother accepts the reality of the situation and realizes blaming others is misplaced.
The headline is very deceiving. It sounds as if a homeowner, out of the blue, murdered this kid. And then you read......
All it takes is one good kid to hook up with the wrong crowd, for whatever reason, for bad things to happen. It’s sad it went this far this time. I’m actually surprised it doesn’t happen more often. I think this new Marxist Nationalist takeover of the USA will cause this to happen more as people feel (and are) less safe.
I want to give the mother the benefit of the doubt. She might have tried her best to raise the boy right, but the pull of criminality was just too strong. Her motives, and almost everything she says, are ambiguous.
She says she wants the police to “look into the case deeper”. If she wants them to catch and prosecute the other robbers in the gang for causing her son’s death, may the force be with her. Or perhaps she wants them to find that the victim used a racial epithet in 1953 so she can blame her and sue for millions.
She says: “When I think of all the things he had at home...” Does that mean positive things like love, security, teenager stuff she bought for him? Or did he have lots of nice stolen goods? Police should have already looked into that/searched their dwelling.
And he hadn’t even finished his algebra homework yet….
“The mother says she wants more answers from police.
“I feel like they need to dig deeper,” said Landers.
Detectives say the woman who shot the teen had reported break ins and attempted break ins at her home before and that she is cooperating with the investigation. No one has been arrested.
“I feel like it’s very wrong,” said Landers. “He had so many dreams. My son was not a criminal.””
I think she needs to dig deeper on how her son turned into a common criminal at such a young age.
Who knows, if she had not had a weapon and used it, she might have been killed by these young thugs. I’ve seen tragedies like this all the time in the news. She may have saved her life by her actions.
“Maybe mom should have told her son not to break in to other folks homes and steal stuff.”
For all we know... the mom knew full well what he was up to and was expecting her cut from the heist.
>>> “My son had a lot of dreams and he was so talented,” said Latoiya Landers. “I don’t get it.”<<<
She doesn’t get it? Let me explain: Her son was a thug and he got killed in the commission of a crime. What’s so hard to understand about that?
Maybe not. Do 14 year olds have visitation rights???
“N_____s have got to go!” - Chris Rock
Last year my super liberal uncle in Minneapolis had his house broke into.
He started by telling me “Last month 5 teens broke into my house...their race doesn’t matter.”
He never told me the race of the teens, but I assumed that deep inside he thought it must matter or he wouldn’t have brought up the topic.
it sounds like she should learn how to think rather than to depend on her feelings
