Low-cost carrier Southwest Airlines is being celebrated by "passengers of size" on TikTok after they discovered they can request complimentary seats – one or two, depending on needs – to accommodate their girth.
Customers whose bodies "encroach" past the armrest are entitled to an extra seat, according to Southwest's inclusion policy. They are currently one of the few, if not the only, airlines to offer free seats to larger passengers.

Are they “entitled” to PAY for the extra seat?

I wonder how it feels having a bun for each seat.

So, every other passenger’s ticket price can increase to redistribute income to yet another protected class.

That approach won’t do the world any favors.

Those "passengers of size" have appetites to match! Will they likewise be entitled to three or four inflight meals, while their compartment neighbors have to make due with only one?

As if there weren’t enough reasons not to fly Southwest...gotta give fatasses an entire row to themselves. Each aircraft will go with 72 fatties onboard and nobody else.

Of course they will pass that cost along to the stock holders, not to the ticket holders.

Pay by weight. Lighter you are the less you pay.
Freight is calculated by size and weight.
A 400+ behemoth should pay more than a 110 lightweight.
Put a package in the cargo hold and you pay by size and weight.
Let these people of girth pay for their eating indulgences!

Not my take. Sounds like there’s one dedicated row. Does SW usually fly with a few empty seats? Maybe they’re just doing a little virtue signaling without losing any revenue. And you don’t have to share your seat with a stranger’s love handles.

If Southwest becomes known as the airline of size I’m not sure that’s a look they want but what do I know in this woke world.
