The IDF finished building several large seawater pumps around a mile north of the Al-Shati refugee camp in mid-November, the Wall Street Journal reported.
The pumps, at least five of which have been built, can each pump thousands of cubic feet of water from the Mediterranean Sea into the tunnels per hour, which would lead to them flooding in a matter of weeks.
US officials said Israel first informed them of the plans in early November, though they don't know when or even if the Israeli government would carry out the plans.
One source told the newspaper that the plan would take place over several weeks, meaning that Hamas would have enough time to move all the hostages out of the tunnels.

A Rat has a tunnel in my backyard and I was thinking about flushing that , the idiot next door feeds birds , just throws the food on the ground she also complains when cats show up ,LOL
Can’t the idf throw a burning 🔥 tire 🛞 into the tunnels ?
Wait, wouldn’t that pollute the sea after they “flush” them out? Think of the poor sea turtles. (/s)
I suspect the women still held hostage have wished for death for some time.
I suggested flooding the tunnels with napalm.
Preventing the combustion from exhausting all the oxygen is much more difficult than preventing flooding.
Then build a nice platform over lake Gaza for Israelis to enjoy! (Sedan nuclear engineering crater, Nuclear test site, NV, USA, below)
Look up Operation Plowshare and peaceful nuclear explosions.
A lot depends on percolation and soil mechanics. It could well cause buildings to collapse. The first result will probably be a failure of the electrical system, then the ventilation system. If the water penetrates the floors and saturates the soil under the tunnels, the tunnels may sag and collapse. Continued injection of water may cause the foundations of nearby buildings (built to the strictest Palestinian codes!) to fail and topple, like that apartment building Florida a few years ago. The possibilities are as delightful as they are numerous!
If they flood the tunnels, I think the Palestinian activists, and their useful idiot followers throughout the entire western world are going to lose their collective minds. It’ll make even the most violent protests thus far look like a church picnic by comparison.
Things are going to get a lot uglier from here, on out. I’m glad I no longer live in the city.
The universally accepted term by the Chinese public for such is “Tofu Drang”
Buildings made from tofu fail
That has been extended to all Chinese manufactured goods that are virtually worthless
Flooding the tunnels with salty seawater has the added advantage of destroying any weapons, electronics and explosives stored underground.
Why talk about it? Just DO it!
No mercy!!!
Easy - there are still hostages to consider.
So what if they loose their minds....what’s it going to take for Americans to stand up and fight back against these creeps!
True....Egypt flooded tunnels and buildings fell.....but perhaps it doesn’t matter if that happens in Gaza. It would not be my concern at all.
Frankly Israel could flatten Gaza - I wouln’t object in the least.
Or justice. Gas them anyway.
If they’re female IDF soldiers, which I think, you can bet they’re being more than abused.
