I don’t know about where he is, but where I worked, they will put him in GP, unless he asks to PC up, or the authorities may simply lock him up, no matter what he wants. Each situation is unique, with its own parameters.

He should be in protective custody. Any law enforcement person who goes to prison is put in protective custody. I've seen one former police officer in general population but he was a gang member and refused to go into PC. The administration must want Chauvin dead. They knew exactly what would happen to him in general population. The worst thing about it is the guy was railroaded because of liberal politics. Our just-us system is broken.
