Lawsuits against Trump over Jan. 6 riot can move forward, appeals court says

Lawsuits against Donald Trump brought by Capitol Police officers and Democratic lawmakers over the U.S. Capitol riot, can move forward, a federal appeals court ruled on Friday.

A three-judge panel of the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals denied Trump’s request to dismiss the civil lawsuits that accuse him of inciting the violent mob on Jan. 6, 2021. But the court said it’s ruling was not the final word on whether presidential immunity shields the Republican from liability in the case and said the judges express “no view on the ultimate merits of the claims” against the former president.

Trump had challenged a lower court’s ruling denying his effort to throw out the lawsuits, arguing his words involved “matters of public concern” and fall within the scope of absolute presidential immunity. U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta ruled last year that Trump’s words during the rally before the storming of the Capitol were likely “words of incitement not protected by the First Amendment.”

The decision comes as Trump’s lawyers are arguing he is also immune from prosecution in the separate criminal case brought by special counsel Jack Smith that accuses Trump of illegally plotting to overturn his election loss to President Joe Biden. That case in Washington is one of four criminal cases Trump is facing as he tries to retake the White House in 2024.

If you take the view that some of Trump’s harsh rhetoric cost him some of the Koward Karen vote it may play opposite to what they want by preventing him from a fully campaigning. It’ll be all about Crooked Joe Biden and his complete failure of leadership

“The sooner some catalyst can cause the destruction of the nation that is and have it replaced with…something…”

What’s the matter with the constitution? Presently it’s being openly violated. Apply The Law.

Can we sue Democrat governors for the ANTIFA/BLM riots, then?

Governments come and go, but nations remain (France, Germany, China, Japan, Viet Nam, etc)

_____________________________________________________

Nations can come and go too. For nations to continue to exist you have to have broad support for continuing to exist as a nation. Increasingly it seems that large swaths of Americans have less and less in common with one another.

True. The government has purposely diluted the nation with foreigners to the point that the term “American” has no meaning. In comparison, “Japanese” has and will continue to have meaning.

It’s divide and conquer. It’s easier to exploit a gaggle of tribes than a united homogenous nation.

Sounds fair. If Trump doesn’t have immunity, they can’t either. Hold them accountable.

Not everything has been released and apparently testimony before the committee was not retained. Incredible.

Nothing is wrong it. Except that it is dead in this country…it’s been murdered. And with the current population it is never going to be restored.

If Trump does not have presidential immunity, then that means Pelosi, Garland and Wray can be sued as well? How about the J6 committee members who held back key evidence?

Is being a total jack ass now a prerequisite for being a D.C. judge? How ever will a selection be made when there are so many worthy candidates who meet that criteria?

At some point e needs to stop treating these cases as being legitimate and allow himself to be put in jail. That would be The Catalyst.

*******************

They can’t put Trump in jail because the minute that happens, both the 1st Amendment & 14th Amendment cases will be on a fast track to the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court will slap down both idiotic plays.

Trump knows he has leverage over Engoron and will keep popping off.
