Lavrov said on Thursday that Moldova, an Eastern European country and former Soviet republic, is putting itself in harm's way in its desire to join the European Union.
In June 2022, the EU and its member states offered unwavering support for Moldova and granted it candidate status. The support was reaffirmed in March of this year, with the EU and its members promising to continue to provide security and economic support to Moldova as it awaits its path to accession...
On Thursday, the Moldova Foreign Ministry issued a rebuke to Lavrov's comments, calling Russia's invasion of Ukraine "brutal" and saying that Moldova "has felt the entire arsenal of destabilization attempts that Russia has unleashed against us."
"Russia's statements, whether today or on previous occasions, are part of the series of hostile actions that the Russian Federation has been trying to implement towards our country over the past 30 years," the statement reads. "Fortunately, throughout this time, the partner states in the West have been by our side, helping us to successfully overcome these threats...
"The Republic of Moldova is going, irreversibly, on the European path and today, more than ever, we insist on the immediate and unconditional withdrawal of Russian troops from our territory."
On November 24, Russian officials chastised Moldova and threatened to retaliate after its parliament voted to join the EU sanctions against Russia in connection with the war in Ukraine. Moldova's move is part of moves to change legislation so it can make a bid to join the EU.
Anton Gerashchenko, an adviser to Ukraine's Ministry of Internal Affairs, wrote on X (formerly Twitter) that Lavrov's comments "confirm that Russia has no intentions to stop at Ukraine unless it is stopped."..

The fate of Moldova is utterly irrelevant to the USA.
And if the anti-Russia posters here on FR are correct, Ukraine is clearly winning the war and Russian forces are far, far away from Moldova and obviously have no chance of ever getting there (beyond the handful who have been in Trans-whatever for years causing no particular emergency).
Best finish the Ukraine matter before embarking on another. Starting to sound like Hitler.

The “Russian values” debate is hilarious to most anybody who has ever actually been to modern Russia. I have. It’s by far the least “Christian” place I’ve been to in that part of Europe. Hustling is a way of life there. Everything is for sale there. Most Russians are quite open about that. I put that down to their barbarian and Asiatic Mongol heritage. Some mistakenly think they are “like us” because they are mostly Caucasian but the truth is far different.

Don’t tell us what you might do, tell us about the living conditions in a Chinese vassal state. Start with your hate laws, then tell us how your government disarmed you.
It matters that the invasion by illegals from Mexico is opposed more by Americans of Mexican ethnicity than it is opposed by most other demographics.

Positing two poor choices, and then requiring a Hobson's choice response is a game, but not effective in the real world. In sales and marketing, there is the notion of the assumptive close. Rather than asking, "do you want to buy," the question is "when do you want delivery," bypassing the first question. It gives the impression of choice, but it is illusive. You attempted an assumptive close.
There are more options.

Their voting Democrat has nothing to do with it. Blacks hate illegals, as well; and they are the most loyal Democrat voter.

No guessing is needed; an obvious fact.
Clearer with Romania, which joined the EU in 2007. Economies of new members started to pick up before full accession, due to preparatory effects.

The eastern frontier of Moldova is like the eastern regions of Ukraine: Russian ethnic and cultural history. For Moldova to be secure they need to find a way to get into NATO while the getting is good.
