Lavrov said on Thursday that Moldova, an Eastern European country and former Soviet republic, is putting itself in harm's way in its desire to join the European Union.
In June 2022, the EU and its member states offered unwavering support for Moldova and granted it candidate status. The support was reaffirmed in March of this year, with the EU and its members promising to continue to provide security and economic support to Moldova as it awaits its path to accession...
On Thursday, the Moldova Foreign Ministry issued a rebuke to Lavrov's comments, calling Russia's invasion of Ukraine "brutal" and saying that Moldova "has felt the entire arsenal of destabilization attempts that Russia has unleashed against us."
"Russia's statements, whether today or on previous occasions, are part of the series of hostile actions that the Russian Federation has been trying to implement towards our country over the past 30 years," the statement reads. "Fortunately, throughout this time, the partner states in the West have been by our side, helping us to successfully overcome these threats...
"The Republic of Moldova is going, irreversibly, on the European path and today, more than ever, we insist on the immediate and unconditional withdrawal of Russian troops from our territory."
On November 24, Russian officials chastised Moldova and threatened to retaliate after its parliament voted to join the EU sanctions against Russia in connection with the war in Ukraine. Moldova's move is part of moves to change legislation so it can make a bid to join the EU.
Anton Gerashchenko, an adviser to Ukraine's Ministry of Internal Affairs, wrote on X (formerly Twitter) that Lavrov's comments "confirm that Russia has no intentions to stop at Ukraine unless it is stopped."..

Nice try, kid. I challenged him to prove his claim; but, of course, he can’t. He does that all the time.
His sexual orientation? He and his comrades are the ones who initially brought up sexual orientation, way back when Russia re-invaded Ukraine in February, 2022. They seem to dwell on the subject, and introduce sexuality into many of their posts, regardless of topic. People who revel in such comments — as they have shown they do — open themselves to question. I’m just tossing it back their way.

Of, course, you said nothing about restricting your comment to WWII (you now introduce that restriction to try and walk back your hyperbole); and even if you did, your number (30 MILLION civilian deaths) is way off: The consensus is that some 7.5 Million Soviet citizens died in WWII, as well as about 2 million forced laborers (not all of whom were Soviet citizens). But, you don’t let facts get in the way of your narrative, which is basically propaganda. The Kremlin is happy with your work...for now.
As for the rest of your screed? Get over yourself, kid. I served the US (in Asia); as did my brother (in Asia); as did my father (in ETO during WWII); as did my cousins (various deployments); and we lost a family member for America. My nephew is presently deployed “near” Ukraine. I could go back further in history; but, what’s the point? That history would be lost on you.
Your patriotism? I have no idea about your patriotism (yet, oddly, you claim to know all about mine — a fatal assumption on your part, kid — and you are more wrong on that count than you were in your ludicrous claim about the number of Soviet citizens killed in WWII). I do, though, question your education; because you commit so many logical fallacies and rhetorical gaffes that to question your education is appropriate.

But, do you know WHO the war cheerleaders are? Those who support Russia’s invasion of a smaller and weaker neighbor, many of whom are here on FR.
