Tha’ts been MY strategy for the last 50 years. I’m polite, but I don’t engage. I would add a 2nd and 3rd.
2. Stay out of and away from public places like restaurants and public venues like Libraries where your “white” presence might give offense.
3. When you do have to shop, at Walmart or the Grocery store, do so in the early a.m. such that your toxic white presence will offend the fewest possible Black people.
One more rule for blacks around whites:
“3. Talk very softly so that people have to get close to you to hear what you are saying. That is what rich white people do—it makes them seem important.”
