Working class residents are fleeing New York City because it’s too expensive, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said Monday.
The congresswoman made the claim during a discussion of the migrant crisis and Mayor Eric Adams’ controversial across-the-board proposed budget cuts that would shrink the police force and trim spending on schools, libraries and cultural arts programs.
During her tele-town hall meeting, she wondered why the mayor and council weren’t looking to boost taxes on the wealthy — such as pricey pied-à-terre or luxury crash pads for the jet-setting ultra rich.

Since the majority of the wealthy in New York City vote Democrat then as far as I am concerned they can just raise their taxes and raise them a lot.

she wondered why the mayor and council weren’t looking to boost taxes on the wealthy Great idea. First drive out the middle class by making it too expensive to live in NYC and then drive out the rich by making it too expensive to live in NYC
After you drive out all of the people who pay taxes what will the government do for money?
Why is it that these communist think that the rich will just sit there at let the politicians rob them. Eventually the rich figure out that these cities aren’t worth the taxes they pay them.

She was one of the main reason why Amazon did not build a distribution facility in her district.

AOC, while ignoring the billionaires, stock markets, tycoons who have already left for Southern States,
so many people have left NYC, that the city, itself, is on a downward revenue slide and unable to meet the financial expenses of the migrant crisis
You have State income taxes, county property taxes, city taxes, and now New York city wants to impose a "commuter tax" for those entering the NYC proper.
The State mono-party (Dem's) just keeps spending, and spending, and spending itself into deeper and deeper debt.
At some point, you will inevitably run out of "other peoples money", and become a 'has been state'.

Since the majority of the wealthy in New York City vote Democrat then as far as I am concerned they can just raise their taxes and raise them a lot. That's pretty much how I see it. Anyone who lives in NYC and votes for Democrats deserve all the taxes, illegal immigrants, and inflation that comes their way. Just keep it away from the rest of America.

Amazon was never planning to build a distribution center in her district. The massive project in question was a corporate headquarters, and one of the potential sites was in the district next to hers (then represented by Carolyn Maloney).
And AOC had nothing to do with the project’s demise. Amazon decided to build the HQ complex in Virginia after several key New York State legislators withdrew their support for the project in NYC.
