New NBC poll finds 22% of voting Democrat women are ‘single-issue voters’ when it comes time to abortion
American Thinker ^ | 11/28/2023 | Olivia Murray

Four days ago, NBC News released the findings of a brand new poll, and here’s the lede:

Latest NBC News poll finds protecting democracy and abortion are top of mind for single-issue voters.

Right off the bat, we’re reminded that a significant number of voters still don’t understand the American political system—suprise, surprise—but more relevantly for this blog, we learn that according to the current attitudes, abortion is a “single-issue” sticking point for a number of voters. From journalist Bridget Bowman on the findings:

The poll also finds that the highest share of single-issue women voters (22%) say abortion is their top issue.

According to Bowman, the poll has an “overall margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points” which means that number could range from 18.9% up to 25.1%. Now, coincidentally (but not really), “22%” is almost the exact same number of women who will procure an abortion in their lifetime—and, according to data gathered by researchers at the Guttmacher Institute (abortion industry’s research apparatus):

‘Despite recent declines in abortion, it is still a common procedure, and nearly one in four U.S. women will have an abortion in her lifetime,’ says Rachel Jones, lead author of the analysis.

So, I’d suspect that poll is pretty accurate, and here’s why: regardless of opinion, or how someone feels about something, reality is what it is. (This is summed up by the “facts don’t care about your feelings” quip.)

“New NBC poll finds 22% of voting Democrat women are ‘single-issue voters’ when it comes time to abortion...”

and the other 78% of women that are STILL Democrats after all this, are ‘single-issue voters’ when it comes to abortion, that just wont admit it publicly.

Directly, no.

You're crazy if you think Biden won't be running with it next year though, given how big an electoral winner it's been for the Democrats in 2022 and 2023 since the Supreme Court's Dobbs ruling.

Biden's going to be reminding voters that Trump put three justices on the Supreme Court, and they all voted to strike down Roe v. Wade, and saying if he gets in the White House again he'll appoint more "extremist" judges who will take it further. Hell, I've already seen Biden commercials here in Georgia that are abortion themed.

I honestly think abortion might be the one thing that could bail Biden's sorry behind out in 2024. He sure as heck doesn't have much positive to campaign on given how disastrous his presidential term has been.

“NBC Poll” is hogwash! I will bet that it is greater than 50%!

The remaining 78% would be ripped to pieces for not agreeing to murder babies!

Their bodies are only for them.//S

The single issue pro-abort voter is a myth.

Legal abortion hinges on many other issues.

Abortion has always been a “life·style” issue,
most necessary to those who methodically control their lives.

I would venture to say that pro-abortion
voters who control everything in their lives
consider abortion “a benefit” of their managed lifestyle.

22% will never change their mind on the subject, because they have had an abortion themselves and to admit it is murder would be to admit to themselves that they are guilty of murdering their own baby.

“Abortion is a seriously psychologically-traumatic event”

For some, so is having a baby that you don’t want or to whom you can’t give a decent life.

I’d never support my daughters’ choosing abortion but politically the issue is a snake pit.

Women aren't very logical. Killing an innocent babe...equating it to some kind of freedom is an absurdity.

Women are binge voters...That's how we got to prohibition. Then there was the cigarette. What did we the people get in the end....sin taxes.

agree...and the only reason they even vote.

Shake a baby and it dies...and you go to jail. Smash it's skull and kill it....IN THE WOMB...and suck it out and throw it in the garbage...is a right??

And I’m sure that they’d all be willing to consider voting GOP if not for the abortion thing. Riiiiight.

The poll also finds that the highest share of single-issue women voters (22%) say abortion is their top issue.

Include my 81-year-old mother in that category.

That said, I still believe that abortion is a one-and-done issue.

The electoral impacts in the aftermath of overturning Roe is short-term. Once the red and blue states have acted on their ballot initiatives post-Roe, the issue will fade electorally unless the left can concoct ongoing reasons to relitigate the issue election after election. Worst case is a state passes a 15-week ban, then they push for a 16-week ban in the next election, then a 17-week ban in the next, and repeat after each election cycle.

Still, the immediate win is that we no longer speak about abortion as a "right." It is now up to each state to pass laws regulating it.

Put abortion on every ballot possible BEFORE Presidential election.

It’s up to the states now, so give citizens a chance: Should abortion be outlawed? Yes or No. And at what point.

At what week should abortion be outlawed: always, 6 weeks, 12 weeks, 16 weeks, 20 weeks, 3o weeks, 40 weeks.

Rather than hiding from the issue, put it out there. It also stops democrats from putting the issue on the ballot for every close race... Reince Priebus should get on this and get it done.

I agree with you. Rush Limbaugh did a segment on this, he asked, “what is the one issue that keeps people voting for democrats? He answered. “Abortion”. I tried it with the few democrats I knew, maybe ten. They resoundingly answered “abortion”. Terrorism, economy, border were all secondary.

I’m almost the same on the other side. I don’t give 2 craps about anything else a person says that sounds decent; if you are pro-murder, you are pro-evil. I shake the dust off my shoes and move on.

Well abortion for me was the single reason why I would never vote for a Democrat.

Lately they have given me a few more.
