Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis will meet this week with high-dollar Republicans to try to cement their support for the newest political action committee supporting his presidential bid, his campaign manager, James Uthmeier, wrote in a memo on Monday morning.
Back Down, the super PAC which has bankrolled much of DeSantis' sprawling ground work in early voting states like Iowa and has hosted the governor for dozens of events there.
In a fraught moment earlier this month that was first reported by NBC News, two board members from Never Back Down nearly got into a physical fight during a private meeting between senior staff and board members.
Never Back Down's chief executive officer resigned a week after the heated exchange, though it's not clear why.

And more illegal activity, coordinating donations for a super pac run by cronies of his, by desantis.
The problem is the crappy candidate and that is why they can’t fix the problem for any length of time.
RE: nearly got into a physical fight
Didn’t someone have it on their phone? One guy broke a nail, the other lost a button on his Oxford weave shirt. Knocked over a row of hazelnut lattes. Brutal.
Meatball looking for free handouts to stuff his loser pockets
This guy is totally tone deaf. Go home Ron. Nobody wants you. You’re a uniparty tool!
Give it up, Ron. Or, are you jockeying for $$$$ to fill your coffers before you drop out?
DeSantis is the meat puppet of the American oligarch class. Trump or nothing.
Hey, settle down there! Someone spilled pumpkin spice on my Yale sweater!
He's great at being a Gubernatorial candidate who is backed by Trump. He should stick to his wheelhouse.
Yes, politics is a cruel and dirty game.
Oh I agree.
The grift that keeps on grifting.
Who is the Bush, Cheney, McNoName, Rove, Romney, RINO, NeverTrumper, Olde Guard crowd backing these days? DeSanctus or Nikki the Quitter?
And despite all these efforts and putting lots of Never Back Down boots on the ground in Iowa, Ron can't gain traction. What could the problem be?
A lot of history has passed since Lyin' Ted won the Iowa caucus in 2016. The big difference today is Trump is no longer an unknown politician. As President he did great things on behalf of We the People and gained great trust among farmers, evangelicals, you name it. He truly walked his talk, and that record of accomplishment will carry him easily over the top in Iowa.
The donors threw money at DeSantis in Iowa thinking the good ole' boy network and Bushie-tailed GOPe could merely flash a few thousand dollar bills, and hold lots of "grass roots" coffees and pizza events across the state. That stuff is cover for the $95K payoffs made to Vander Plaats and other influencers.
But we MAGA voters are smarter now. We're wise to the Uniparty's corruption and under-the-table deals -- things we didn't full appreciate in 2016.
So the margin of Trump's victory in Iowa will be a barometer of how far MAGA has come in controlling the Republican party at a national level.
