The property taxes here in Austin are higher than Boston. One of my rental properties has an appraised value of $404,000. The property tax, after the Texas Legislature reduction, is over $8,000.

The property tax for my residence will be over $15,000 for 2023.

With these confiscatory taxes, all Texas landowners are really tenants with the government acting as the landlord.

Tell me about the Tx state income tax?

And no law in Texas prevents one from just leaving.

Austin is not Texas. Places like White Oak, Center, Longview, and Tyler ...

THAT’s east Texas country.

"Lifelong Texan here. I am definitely preparing an exit strategy," one anonymous user posted on a Reddit thread about leaving Texas. "From the heat to the stripping away of human rights, I'm just done."

If there is something you can trust, it is DEFINITELY an anonymous poster on Reddit.

Ah, yes, journalism today, where the writer’s sources include “one anonymous user on a Reddit thread.”

I don’t see them doing a hit piece on NY which was once again voted the least free state in the nation. With extreme taxes all the way around.

So conservatives from California are moving to Texas, and Texas liberals are moving to California.

I’m OK with that.

Now let’s turn Harris county red!

Yeah, people leaving Texas. Puhleeze, do yourselves a favor. Go on I35 and drive north from San Marcos to Waco.

Somebody is moving next to the Tesla plant, Samsung plant, Space X design lab, TI new chip plant , and even this

Texas Is the ‘Stickiest’ State in the U.S.

Texas, North Carolina and Georgia are estimated to be the “stickiest” states in the nation – meaning they have kept the highest shares of native residents from moving away, according to a recent analysis of U.S. Census Bureau data.

I’ve built hundreds of houses over 50 years and owned a couple thousand rental units at one time or another starting in 1971. My taxes back then (1971) were about 1.5%. You are paying about 2% which is what I pay also west of Austin.

With no income tax and fuel prices about half California prices we are still far better off. That said, I wish the California refugees WOULD go to a different state.

"I've been in Texas most of my life...retiring in five years...this intense heat...I'm leaving"

So it took her maybe 60 years to finally realize it's hot in Texas? Sounds like a Democrat.

While some homebuyers seek the American dream in Texas, many are leaving..

“Some” vs “many”, yet more are moving to Texas than leaving.
