James Carville defined Pennsylvania as “Philadelphia and Pittsburgh as bookends with Alabama in between.”

“The property tax for my residence will be over $15,000 for 2023.”

I’m in an apartment so I don’t pay property tax!

To put it another way, there are options...

“Tell me about the Tx state income tax?”

If you have income in Texas, you don’t pay income tax. If you don’t have income in Texas, you also don’t pay income tax. And, if you have an s-load of income, but live in a crappy house, you still don’t pay income tax and you pay very little property tax.

It’s called FREEDOM - if you want a house to show off to the Jones’, then you’ll pay a pretty penny in property tax. If you don’t care about the Jones’, then you can pay next to nothing in property tax.

Any other questions?

As a landlord, I consider property taxes when I arrive at the rental price.

Then you know that Gov. Abbott and the legislature are working on property tax reduction bills, right?

Yes, that’s why I referenced the reduction in my original post. To keep up on Texas, I regularly read the Texas Scorecard: https://texasscorecard.com/

Hmmm, 15K in taxes. Sounds like the utopia of Austin has valued your house around $1M or so. Have to pay for all those drugged up homeless people.

we pay higher property taxes here because we pay ZERO income taxes.

In Nevada there is no income tax and the property taxes are comparatively low.

Depends on where in Texas you live.
I pay county and school taxes. About $2,800 a year on my $175,000 property. No income tax. We have the appraisal districts in control. There is a limit on how much taxing districts can raise taxes per year, so some boost the valuation of homes. My wife really watches what’s going on in our area as far as the tax Assessor Collector is doing.
My farmer friends are also very pro-active.

If folks take a look at the budgets of all 50 states they will find that there isn’t a red state in the nation. Not one.

There should be a strict moratorium on government spending across the board. Including freezing government employee income/benefits. Their mismanagement and corruption have driven the country into the ground, where only the well off and wealthy are not being harmed by nearly all of their policies and actions. No more rewarding these corrupt people.

I’m calling BS on this story. I don’t believe Texans are considering leaving in any real numbers. No way.

I guess not. All the illegals are pouring into Texas and supposedly, they don’t have any money. They’re “refugees”. But then again, America has become the BIG LIE so who knows what the hell the truth is these days.

“the Midwest has emerged as popular recently because it is just by and large the most affordable region,”

I’d love to have a ton of good, solid Texans...or from anywhere else for that matter..but I wouldn’t wish illannoy on them. Couldn’t live with my conscience.
