It’s admitted GE can be done in such a way as to cover or erase signs it ever was used.

Excuse me, who "admitted" that? Or was that something you read on some antivax conspiracy site?

If I show you a picture of a girl with wings flying through the air, can you figure out if that picture is real or a fake?

The sequence of a virus is much like that picture. If the virus is altered, it is obvious to anyone who knows how to analyze genetic data. I've analyzed the sequence of the original SARS-CoV-2 isolate myself: no signs of genetic engineering.

If you say it, I doubt it.

well, I guess that settles it then, doesn’t it...since you’ve analyzed it your own self and all...

To: exDemMom; anyone

Can’t you just ask politely?

Why has rudeness and snippy, insulting talk became the norm on FR?????

Well is the Republican led— House Foreign Affairs Committee a “some anti-vax conspiracy site”?

You sound very much like the Chinese communist’s view on the subject—and I just read an article from China that makes me say that.

Here is what the committee said: “ Congressional investigators say researchers at the lab “had the ability to genetically modify coronaviruses as early as 2016 without leaving any trace of that modification.”

From this article:

https://hotair.com/headlines/2021/08/02/wuhan-scientists-genetically-manipulated-virus-congressional-report-says-n406051

I admit I don’t have a virology degree just a general science one but this article and one other I’ve spent an hour searching for fruitlessly.

And I’m certainly not going to waste another moment of my time for someone rude.

Ralph Baric pioneered one such method.

The bat lady in China--I'm on vacation and don't have my links on the phone--has another; there was another paper I saw from a Chinese group, which mentioned a commercially available tool for doing so.

I remember in one of you childish, fatuous, autofellatory posts about a month ago, where you condescended to explain that some of the tools and reagents used by REAL SCIENTISTS like yourself, with PhDs and white lab costs and everything, even though they are too complex for mortal humans to follow, (even MDs as you said elsewhere), had reached the point that they had not only been standardized, but commercialized.

Either you're way behind the field, or you are deliberately lying, because there are tools used for inserting genetic sequences without leaving markers on either end. IBTZ troll.
