Just when you thought there were no parts of your life not already under the thumb of the federal government, a new idea emerges.
This time it comes from the National Transportation Safety Board and it involves outsiders having control of the gas pedal in your car.
While you're driving, of course.
The proposal from the NTSB is to install "intelligent speed assistance" tech in all cars, a system that uses a car's GPS location and local speed limit postings "to help ensure safe and legal speeds."

You would think though that trucks would want to save fuel costs by drafting BEHIND each other instead of side by side. I’m sure they’re conscious of blocking traffic by driving side by side and noticing in their rear view mirror cars are piling up behind them. One of my biggest pet peeves, is inconsiderate drivers.
Heh. Many states have a mandatory annual safety and emissions inspection. Fed Feds will simply mandate that it’s illegal to tamper with this equipment and then mandate an annual inspection for everyone to make sure it’s not tampered with.
Not all drivers are equal, unless you’re a communist. I spent half my spare time in various race cars, both drag racers and circle tracks, and raced motocross as well and probably have driven as many miles over 100mph than a lot of people have driven.
As a side note, I just made it 50 years of accident free driving on the street as well!
Why should I be considered the same as an 18 year old beginner?
If the Federal government can make you car slow down it can also make your car speed up. The Bentley that was going 100 miles per hour through a border crossing for example could have had the cruise control hacked. It’s just a matter of time.
Drafting semis? What a plan for huge chain reaction wrecks!
Another thing,I see police routinely exceeding the speed lomit in non-emergency driving.
You never saw the movie from the 70’s called Convoy?
No. But I’ve seen pictures of huge pileups. And the semi drivers of today are much more likely to be unable to speak or read English. Then there are the grossly overweight and other physically limited with slower reactions. Only fraud can explain how these people pass DOT physical exams and CDL driver exams.
Will they monitor road speed or wheel speed? How’s a cab driver supposed to run up the meter these days if he can’t spin his wheels?
Cash for junkers
Distance traveled vs time taken to get there.
The Feds would mandate it. Just like they used Federal highway funding to set the nationwide speed limit at 55, bad idea since rescinded, and setting the nationwide BAC at 0.08 soon to be 0.05.
“Since we’re the Federal gov’t we can tell you what to do, but we do control your highway funding and it would be a shame if you lost it.”
Simple extortion.
When the Biden puppet is ridiculously “reelected” again in 2024 by a fixed election organized by the Rat/RINO domestic enemy uniparty of treason, speed limits are going to be the least of our problems
I hear the “trans”portation sec will be offering ‘sack’ lunches?
This might have good intentions but entirely the wrong implementation.
I’ve noticed an uptick in drivers speeding now. And in my city it’s pretty bad. The tail gating is out of control too. But it’s just a few road ways this is happening. Gives new meaning to defensive driving. The scary thing to see is a person with their phone up to the wheel doing 15 over.
Me too. I usually am a little over but these days it looks like I’m granny in the slow lane. Yikes. Even our 25mph street has folks doing 50+.
Back when there was an Iron Curtain, people in the East had to check in one location and then check in again at various points on their way to their destinations.
You weren’t allowed to explore or get off the route.
Or...if we decide to drive into a major city near us to protest some governmental, social, or financial issue, we will find our cars inoperable.
RLMOREL: Hey, rktman, I can’t make it to the protest about the proposed Federal Gun Registry Database today. My car won’t start up, so I won’t be able to meet you there.
RKTMAN: Mine won’t start either. I was sent an email from the manufacturer saying my brand of EV is experiencing a date bug in the software they are working to fix, and I won’t be able to drive.
RLMOREL: Huh. You said you had a Tesla?
RKTMAN: Yeah. A brand new one, a TS-3.
RLMOREL: My brother has a brand new one as well, a TS-3 like yours, but I just saw him pull out of his driveway.
RKTMAN: And you have a 2027 Ford F=5500?
RLMOREL: Yeah.
RKTMAN: Well, my neighbor has one too, and I saw him leave his house about an hour ago...
