Former President Donald Trump leads President Joe Biden by seven points in a new poll showing the Republican candidate defeating the Democrat incumbent if they go head-to-head in 2024.
The latest Messenger/Harris poll conducted by HarrisX, released on Monday, has Trump with 47% support among those surveyed, versus 40% for Biden and 13% undecided.
Additionally, when respondents were asked to choose between Trump, Biden, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. or Cornel West, Trump received 40% support, Biden 33%, Kennedy 14% and West 2%.
Although besting Biden in the polling, the report also found that 55% of voters do not want Trump to run again in 2024, with 25% of Republicans and 56% of independents agreeing.
For the current president, however, 67% of respondents do not want Biden to run for reelection in 2024, including 40% of Democrats and 75% of independents.
The poll drew from an online survey conducted Nov. 15-19 among 3,017 registered voters in the United States by HarrisX, with a margin of error of plus or minus 1.8 percentage points.
The poll also found that, when asked who they would vote for in the Republican primary, Trump led the pack with Republican voters (62%), followed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (11%) and former United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley (10%). Seven percent of Republican respondents said they weren't sure.
When asked who they would vote for if Trump dropped out of the GOP primary, DeSantis was the most favored by Republican respondents with 38%. The second highest result was "don't know/unsure" (19%), followed by Haley (16%) and Vivek Ramaswamy (13%).
Earlier this month, a New York Times/Siena College survey found that Trump led Biden in five of six "swing states": Arizona (49% vs. 44%), Georgia (49% vs. 43%), Michigan (48% vs. 43%), Nevada (52% vs. 41%) and Pennsylvania (48% vs. 44%). For the sixth surveyed swing state, Wisconsin, Biden held a slight lead over Trump of 47% vs. 45%.
In September, The Washington Post and ABC News released a poll that found that 51% of respondents supported Trump, while 42% backed Biden.
The Post published an analysis that dismissed the findings as "probably an outlier," claiming that "Trump's lead in this survey is significantly at odds with other public polls that show the general election contest a virtual dead heat."
"Biden and former president Donald Trump appear headed for a rematch of their 2020 contest, although more than 3 in 5 Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents say they would prefer a nominee other than the president," the September analysis reads.
"Biden's advisers have argued that he is the strongest Democrat for 2024 and those who wish for someone else share no consensus on who that should be, with 8 percent naming Vice President Harris, 8 percent naming Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and 20 percent saying they prefer 'just someone else.'"
Why only 7 points????
We’re living in a DISASTER created by this administration.
I used to say Biden was the worst President in my lifetime.
But I’ve modified that to...Biden is the worst President in U.S. history.
I’m not a historian nor play one on TV but if anyone can point out another President who has done so much damage to the country in so short a time, let me know.
I would be willing to bet that they will try to make a deal with West. They just can’t afford to have leftwing votes leach away . If Bernie Sanders is any indication, the going price will be a mansion overlooking a rolling valley.
RE: Why only 7 points????
I jave been noticing this for a while — Biden’s APPROVAL/DISAPPROVAL rating never falls below 37%. That is is his bottom regardless of what happens to our country. I don’t think he will ever go below that number. This probably means that he has AT LEAST 37% of potential voters who will vote for him.
I’ll take 7, it’s almost out of cheat range. I believe Biden was polling 1 or 2 points higher than Trump in 20.
Consider the source.
But I’ve modified that to...Biden is the worst President in U.S. history.
><><
BHO is his boss. We’re in the BHO third term.
Biden doesn’t give a damn about what they’ve done to the country. BHO is happy as a pig in mud.
It appears third party candidates take more votes away from Biden than they do Trump.
I can’t believe anyone would be supporting Biden given the current economy, the open border, and the turmoil overseas. And that’s just three issues of concern to voters.
7% ain’t gonna cut it.

As I’ve been stating, the person with the strong bond to his voters WINS in a 3-way race (or 4-man, for that matter), which is clearly the case here. The strategies that work in 2-man race, such as demonizing opponents, don’t work in a 3+ race as there’s no assurance of picking up those voters, as they have other options.
This is the reality. Around 1/3 or so of US voters are unreachable, clueless idiots. It’s just a fact and nothing will change it.
Because the government is spending like a drunken sailor and they have their hand out for the next drink.
It should be 70 points ahead if the country was well.
“This is the reality. Around 1/3 or so of US voters are unreachable, clueless idiots. It’s just a fact and nothing will change it.”
And another 1/3 are just plain idiots.
Joe Sh*tbag Biden is the most immoral leader since Caligula in the Roman Empire. He deserves the same fate.
That other 1/3 is who decides elections. No more moral or intellectual foundation. They vote on the mood of the day, prone to all manner of BS. I remember standing in line to vote for Bush v Clinton. There were two women in front of me. They are standing in line to vote and undecided. After talking back and forth one says to the other “l guess l’ll vote for Bill he’s kinda cute”, the other says yeah OK me too. There ya go.
Just my guess and my reading of the tea leaves and the knowledge that the Dems are nothing if not deceitful and seem to enjoy theatrical cons.
It doesn’t matter who votes, it only matters who counts the votes.....
But Dems/unions will do midnight drops of millions of ballots and Merrick The Mouse Garland will look the other way. Biden wins another election steal!!
