Ahead of last year’s midterm elections, I suggested to you on this page that Republicans had two years left to decide: Are they the party of Ronald Reagan, or the party of Donald Trump? A party of grounded conservative principles, advanced by Reagan’s high-minded optimism and penchant for compromise? Or a party of authoritarian, populist impulses, motivated by Trump’s dark and pessimistic vision of America as “a nation in decline”?
For those of us who hoped that Republican voters would choose the former, recent months have offered little cause for optimism. Sen. Tim Scott’s withdrawal from the presidential primary earlier this month — coupled with polling data collected over the past year — suggest that many GOP voters are steering further into Trump’s populist skid, despite a growing record of electoral defeats.

Reagan is dead. We have no where near the situation we had when Reagan was POTUS.
The liberal GOP establishment hated Reagan as much as they did Trump so when they trot out Reagan, just as they did so much in the 1992, 1996, 2000 etc... campaigns you know they are lying-again. Reagan had nothing in common with this country club trash other than being in the same party, they hated him.
Reagan was an ideological conservative and Trump a nationalist with some conservative leanings. I can go with real Reagan values and most of Trumps. I cannot abide the liberal GOP establishment in any form, they are contemptable backstabbing liars to a man!
Reagan was facing Liberals, Trumpis facing marxists.
Regan was for that time in America. It wouldn’t work now so I will take Trump for this time in America.
Talk radio died with Rush Limbaugh. Not only was Rush a very smart man, he was entertaining. You can’t say that for those on the airwaves these days.
Unemployment isn’t really a problem here. What we’re really facing is a demographic disaster.

That’s a good thing to hope for. However, the fact that he surrounded himself with backstabbers was not all a result of bad judgment.
When you Wade into the DC swamp with the stated intention of draining it, nobody is your friend. There is also the principle of keeping your enemies closer.
I think for the most part he knew full well what he was getting into and who he was dealing with. Some of the betrayals caught him by surprise, but I get the impression not much gets past him.
Not to compare him to Jesus, but I’m reminded of the Bible story where Jesus knew Judas was going to betray him - sometimes leaders have to walk around with targets on their backs and draw fire - so the rest of us can see who the enemy is.
In the last seven years President Trump has flushed out a huge number of bad guys and I don’t think he did it by accident.

No, you’re blowing it. Whether this country lives or dies will come down to if TDS children can pull their thumbs out of their mouths and fight, or not. It’s not looking promising.

We had all hoped it would be the party of Kennedy... but it's the party of Castro. We are so disappointed.
