Walmart says customers are spending more than 60% of their purchases on food and daily necessities. There's just no cushion for big holiday spending on things like toys.

I recall one Christmas in the early 50s I got one pair of socks. Some of the early 50s were very lean years. Things improved in the late 50s.
Scummy Biden continues to gaslight the nation on social media about useless losing “Bidenomics.”
The facts on the ground are toy giants Mattel and Hasbro have slashed their revenue guidance for the year, and are seeing their stock plummet...
Meanwhile, Bidumb is on vacation.....a-g-a-i-n.
That’s good!
Smart shopping makes a YUGE difference. I've used generic stuff for years, usually costing average two-thirds of name brands, and check the sales aisles every visit.
Dollar General's "Clover Valley" line is often superior to the well knowns, as is much of Wally's "Great Value" stuff.
I’ve been known to give a case of toilet paper. That so they think of me every day.
That’s what my mom got...food. War-time England was when she grew up. The closest thing she got to a toy was paper dolls. Fruit, nuts, hankies, and paper dolls. The only dolls she ever got, not at Christmas, were hand me downs from a more privileged cousin. She used to use her cats as dolls...dress them up and put them in a pram. Poor mom. Poor cats.
I got it for $2.57 yesterday at Sam’s. That’s about the cheapest I’ve paid in a long time. Not counting on that lasting.
Indeed. I always “doctor up” my ramen. Some leftover chicken, spinich, and even a hard-boiled egg make it more like the traditional noodle bowl.
Also I use Miso instead of the flavor packet. You are so right! It’s mostly SALT.
Good One!
I’ll have to look into a membership - was going to get one at Sam’s because the fee was given back on the first purchase (if enough was spent)
But that was YEARS ago
I haven’t looked at any memberships lately
It’s amazing how liberals keep Newsom in office
disastrous
OMG, I had one of those. I had forgotten about that. Thanks for the memory!
My grocery bill, gas for my car, utility bills, insurance premiums tell me Bidenomics is a failure.
I remember every time George Bush II went on vacation or Trump played golf it was national hysteria in the media claiming they were ignoring the country and fiddling around during a time of “crises” (which were endless).
When Obama came to power, the same media praised him for playing so much golf and going on more vacations than any other previous president in history.
Ditto for Biden.
We got an orange in our stocking every year, or sometimes a tangerine, from the tree outside our home, of course; not the grocery store.
Underwear and socks were also often gifts.
My how things changed not long after that, and now it looks like we are returning to those days.
Shopping Monday:
A loaf of WONDER BREAD: $4.29.
My mom too - in the U.S. She was the last of nine so she got the hand-me-down shoes from her siblings, said they never fit right but she didn’t have a choice - she had to have surgery on her feet later because they were deformed from ill-fitting shoes.
She made sure “us” kids had proper shoes when we were young - our feet were measured every single time we bought shoes and we were asked repeatedly if they fit. We didn’t have a lot of money but this was a very important issue to her.
An ORANGE in Indianapolis in December was a treat in itself. Certainly NOT grown there.
You mean those same “Corporations” that have to pay $15 an hour-—or more to Slackers & No Goods???
My cousins are in their early 60s now and it is a family tradition that everyone gets an orange in their stocking as a reminder of what my dad’s family went through during the depression.
My oranges are ripening now as I write this - lemons and grapefruit too! Looks like a good crop - and I am happy to share with my neighbors.
Ever get a bottle of mouthwash for Christmas?
