The purpose here is to deport those with violent felony convictions in the US, so as to try to prevent them from returning to the US and committing more violent crimes...as that makes the Administration look bad.

Needless to say, the other 99.79% of those coming north, the ones without violent felony convictions are helped along into the US and advised on how claim refugee status.
