Republicans swept the Louisiana attorney general, secretary of state and treasurer runoff races Saturday, giving the GOP a monopoly on all statewide races in the state.
Early results projected landslide wins by all of the Republicans.
Liz Murrill will be Louisiana's first woman to serve as attorney general, while Nancy Landry won the secretary of state's office to become the state's chief elections officer and John Fleming will oversee the state bank as treasurer.
All three are new to their offices.
Murrill replaces her current boss Jeff Landry, a Republican who won the governor's race outright in the Oct. 14 primary election in a crowded field.
Landry replaces her current boss Kyle Ardoin, a Republican who has been secretary of state since 2018 but didn't run for reelection.
And Fleming replaces Republican John Schroder, who gave up the office to make an unsuccessful bid for governor.
Saturday's three wins solidified the Republicans growing stranglehold in Louisiana.
For only the second time in modern history the GOP will hold every statewide office. The only other time Republicans had a lock on statewide offices was 2015 before Democratic Gov. John Bel Edwards was inaugurated in 2016 for the first of his two terms. Edwards was term limited couldn't run again this cycle.
Fleming, Landry and Murrill join Gov.-elect Landry, Agriculture Commissioner Mike Strain, the incumbent who won without opposition, new Insurance Commissioner Tim Temple, who ran without opposition after incumbent Jim Donelon didn't seek reelection, and U.S. Sens. Bill Cassidy and John Kennedy.
Republicans also strengthened their super majorities in both the state House and Senate during this election cycle.

He's in his final three years as a U.S. Senator.
Good news about Secretary of State. If that had fallen into Democrat hands, the resulting messy elections would have guaranteed LA a string of Dumb governors.
Who is going to defeat Cassidy?
I had to look him up. He’s a Republican.
Did President Trump endorse him in 2020?
I am ignorant about who controls the GOP state party apparatus, and the donations in Louisiana.
I seem to remember that after the 2020 presidential election was stolen in Georgia the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, and Attorney General were all Republicans. Fat lot of good it did.
Can any Freeper comment on what we can expect from this new crew in Louisiana?
Yes Trump endorsed Bill Cassidy for reelection. And two months after getting safely reelected for six more years, he voted to convict Trump.
He wouldn’t have done that if he were up for reelection in 2022. Murkowski was, but they fixed the game in 2020 to move to ranked choice voting to protect her.
As to who will defeat Cassidy - literally anybody else. If he survives a primary, he’ll lose the runoff.
But guaranteed, he’ll announce his retirement before then. He’s done.
“Did President Trump endorse him in 2020?”
Cassidy made out he endorsed Trump.
At least some voters still vote with their brains and not whether there is an “R” or “D” after the candidates name on the ballot.
when MSM is quiet about these things not reported. If roles reversed wall to wall coverage of the impending GOPe rout in 2024
Maybe they can do something about New Orleans being a shithole anti white enclave
Such rhetoric you never hear when it’s democrats who sweep states. Nobody ever complains about the democrat stranglehold on the government.
You mean there wasn’t any found ballots in car trunks in New Orleans? I guess the fraudsters left NOLA...🤓
Time to ban all mail-in voting.
This should clinch “Constitutional Carry” for Louisiana.
No bias there. Not a bit ...
Nobody ever complains about the democrat stranglehold...”
True that. But you’ll never hear the MSM or leftists say that.
